Ok, had my Minimus up and running for a week now but 1TB external drive just turned up today:

Using OpenManager 1.16, putting the games into /GAMEZ/ folder; god damn they are slow to copy over via USB2.0 >:/

PC doesn't have eSATA, not is the external drive eSATA compatible. Can live with it...

After the /GAMEZ/ folder, does each game have to be named: /BLESXXXX/ etc

or can you have it named: /GAMEZ/3D Dot Heroes/ ?

Does it even have to be named /GAMEZ/ ?

how slow? i copied FF13=40gb in 15 minutes and 25 minutes over ftp and that's probably the biggest games ps3 has, pretty sure burning 4 disks for 360 would take about an hour Razz

Hmm i've not been folloiwng this for a few weeks, but to me it looks like nothing has really changed / happened in the last few weeks. You still cannot update to newest version, and I guess some new games will require these updates?

Seems like, so far, it's only Medal of Honour that requires 3.42 ... and I'm sure that will be hacked.

Do you think it will though? I was thinking earlier, and what if the the latest 3.50 firmware installs a file, say a codec or anything that a game can check/require then aren't we screwed atm, do we have access to ALL the ps3 file system to tackle this kind of protection?

Isn't the MOH problem just a case of deleting the update folder though? At least that's what I've read.

I think MOH will be playable as it only requires 3.42 i have heard. And this firmware added nothing, only patched the exploit hole. 3.50 is another story.

There HAS to be a quicker way of copying from PC to PS3 internal HDD than this shitty wireless! It's been running for over an hour now and it's only done about 6GB, running at 1.3MB/s and it's still got 16GB left to go!

I doubt they can ban all the clones as well already, the "source" not seems that legit.

This is really positive news for Sony and we hope they can soon stop the selling of this modchip throughout the world. It won’t be foolish to say that hackers are having a tough time. First, the security update and now this. As for PS3 fans, you should be relieved that being loyal to your console has paid off and you can still do whatever you want with your PS3!

.....uh. Yeah because NOT using the Jailbreak gives you so much freedom to do whatever you want! By NOT buying the device, you can install homebrew and make backups of your games for loading off HDD, increasing game performance and decreasing loading times. Also, by NOT buying a Jailbreak device, you have the opportunity and the possibility to restore Linux functionality on your machine!

.. oh wait.

Whoever wrote that article is a fucking idiot.

Why hasnt Sony done what Microsoft have done.. copy games to hdd but still need the game to play.. the bluray drive is prolly more shit than the dvd drive which the xbox has and the bluray is slower, Sony can do much more but they just dont bother, not sure if this has ever come up but i hope Sony havent used the excuse saying we cant copy games to the hdd when you can do it when you jailbreak.

dust.

Especially considering you can buy HUGE hard disks for the PS3, unlike the 360, which means even more game installs. Install game, keep BD checking requirement, win.

Hmm. I deleted a game via the FTP software (only way I know) and it seems my earned trophies for that game disappeared. Not that I cared all that much about them, but didn´t think they would be stored in the gamedir?

They seem to be only saved temporary if you dont synchronize it online with PSN. Happened to me too.
After changing the HD with a new, none of my trophies are displayed. And i did a full backup under the PS3 system menu.

The only time I care about trophies is when it influences the actual game itself, like some PS3 games unlock extra content if you have certain trophies. Shame the 360 doesn't have that option, instead using achievements mainly as ePenis for bragging rights about your gamerscore.

Really? Thanks for the explanation. Like I said before, I don´t really care about the trophies, but it is rather weird how they are handled then. For the Xbox they are saved just fine offline.

By the way guys; I can not only confirm that Hermes_3 and/or Pretty Manager (which I enjoy a lot!) work perfectly for the old controller-sync games, but you can use any USB controller to play them Very Happy Playing Super Street Fighter IV with my Logitech P3200 Rumble? Awesome.

Sadly, for some people, the 360 controller *doesn't* work. It doesn't work because it's not a standard HID-compliant controller.

It's based off of OBM 1.15 and looks considerably better than the stock BM1 Very Happy
