Panasonic Unveils New Handheld Platform "The Jungle"
Panasonic has jumped back into the gaming market for the first time in more than a decade, unveiling a new handheld platform with the tagline "We Are Online Gaming."
"The Jungle" is being touted as a true online gaming handheld that will support MMORPGs and other multiplayer titles. Its first confirmed game is the browser-based Battlestar Galactica Online.
Gizmodo is reporting that it will be as much a tiny PC as a handheld platform, featuring a full QWERTY keyboard and touchpad in addition to the expected d-pad and shoulder buttons. 3G support hasn't been confirmed, but it seems to be a given for a handheld platform like this.
No word on the price or release date, but it's likely to be pricey given its high-definition screen and other features.
Panasonic’s stupid idea The Jungle, has been axed. The Jungle was a handheld MMO gaming device that was due for release this year, also, it was a ridiculous device.
As soon as Panasonic announced the device, press around the world hated it instantly, with its QWERTY keyboard and disgusting design, The Jungle was never going to see the light of day, honestly.
Sheesh, poor Panasonic really can't get a break in the console market, can they? First the hilariously bad 3DO (though SSF2T, Gex, NFS and Return Fire all rocked hardcore) and now the Jungle.
