Hi got a problem with my PC, its about 2 years old and haven't this kind of problem before..
some spec:
cpu: intel core 2 duo e8400 3 ghz
ram: 2x2Gb ddr2 apacer 800mhz
gpu: palit ati 4850 sonic 512mb
mdr: asus p5k epu
supply: asus 550 watt
os: win7 64bit
hdd: 1TB(win vista) + 1.5 TB (win7)

the problem started yesterday.. 1st i thought is from the game lag (WOW) but then i spotted that the whole system got lag..even when i try to open task manager it freeze... also tried to search using Win-start and same thing.. one by one...
so I've rebooted (force) (now got lag during writing this message) my Pc and then won't boot...1st i taught it's my HDD but i got 2x HDD (1x 1TB WD, 1x1.5tb Seagate) and can't boot from both... (HDD read error)

so I've tried to disconnect one HDD but still no result

so can someone recommend me some good diagnostic tool or type whats the problem?

i think its the motherboard...

any suggestions?

Pull every device out except for the CPU and Memory. Test if it POSTS. If it does, add a Hard Drive and see if it boots. If it dont post, its your MOBO or CPU or MEMORY. Swap the memory into another system and test. If it works, its your MOBO or CPU. Then swap your CPU (if you can).

Asus...this is the second time someone posted an issue with Asus..Glad I dont own that board.

Definitely seems like one of your devices is malfunctioning. I had this problem caused by a DVD-ROM drive. Entire computer would freeze for few seconds while it was working.

In the olden days this kind of stuff was often caused by IRQ conflicts.

The freezes you are experiencing are likely attempts for the CPU to respond to an IRQ but never getting an answer, so the CPU waits until the driver programmed timeout expires.

Just guessing btw.

So new motherboard? I'm still able to RMA the old one (asus got 36 moths)

Doesn't have to be mobo, it could easily be hdd as you said, or pretty much anything else.

i've formated disk and installed fresh new win7

at 1st i've received an error like: insert bootable device and restart... disk name: BzBzbzBZ .. disk error pres Ctrl +alt+del.. and so on

and disk seems to be ok i've tested it on other pc

and now i've tried to copy all data from 1 hdd to other so i can fully format the 1st one.. but the transfare rate was under 160kb/sec so i've canceled it...

now i remember we have and accident with storm here... it hit local phone central and it burned down my router and my LAN (on board) and also the phone.. so i've bought new PCI LAN.. but thats was 1 - 2 months ago...

Just a note, dunno if will work.

I had problems like that with 2 HDD´s, random crash. Even tried switching one of the hdds with a dvd-drive. Same shit. Bios found everything and all was cool.

Then one of the hdds got write errors and suchs. First I thought the hdd was dead, but with the dvd-drive also failed, I thought it was the sata ports on the mainboard.

Turned out my sata cables was fubar, switched both and everything is running fine now. You could try that.

Arn and ecn is just an internal notice for them to say whats being done, network changes and an engineers change notice I think. If thats pretty much standard through pc stuff with normal everyday repair shit engineering wise..

What im suprised is not on there is also confirmation of a MB/ rework note as well Very Happy
