This game is so great and such a beauty, every gamer should have played this, not pirated though, because Frictional Games must live!

I'm still halfway through it, but this is a pure masterpiece, sadly there are no other games like this!

Cryostasis is somewhat similar, but Amnesia is just so much better, so atmospheric and well designed!

I'm in love with this game!

NO we must kill them so that we can have a good and pure memory of them, and feel nothing but love for them.

all developers, if they go on long enough, eventually become twisted and evil, because they always sellout and go mainstream... its much better to smother and kill the things we love when they are young, is it not? that way... *sniff*... their pure memory will live on forever, untainted by fucking consoles and money...

There's even a movement going on Steam where people are buying this game for other people, just to keep the developers alive. This game is beyond badass.

As I said several times in my previous comments, this is absolutely one of the best and most atmospheric games of the last years, a gem that everybody needs to experience. Smile

Cryostasis was also an excellent title, a bit different from Amnesia, which is a pure psychlogical horror adventure, but still heavily recommended Razz

This game literally managed to scare the hell out of me, I still haven't finished it.

But that map where you have to keep constantly above water and a little later where you have to find items on the storage cave,

I was genuinely scared!

Do you know any other games similar to this, other than Penumbra and Cryostasis?

I heard someone comparing it mildly to Metro 2033, what is your opinion (I haven't played Metro) ?

Well, I haven't finished Metro yet, though it's clear that there's a big difference between the two titles: Metro 2033 is a standard atmospheric first person shooter with horror elements while Amnesia is purely a (positively) disturbing psychological horror adventure with no shooting sequencies. They're both very good, and I recommend you to try Metro after you're done with amnesia Smile

You might also like Call of Cthulhu: Dark Corners of the Earth (2005, an excellent horror adventure in first person perspective), Clive Barker's Undying (2001, a bit dated graphically wise but well done), Condemned: Criminal Origins (2006, a classic FPS with interesting melee combat and tons of scary moments) and the Silent Hill series (a classic) Wink

Let me tell you this; i've been playing Silent Hill, dead space, penumbra and metro 2033 and tons of other so called "horror" games. They ain't shit.
Amnesia is the only game that really really scared me, i will be trying Cryostasis with high hopes that it will be a little like Amnesia. But i know already that its not gonna be able to compare to the extreme badassness that is Amnesia.

No one mentionned Thief 3 (Deadly Shadows) - The Craddle mission as one of the scariest gaming moments known to date, in this thread.

Bought Amnesia, like Penubra and Overture before. I love this kind of game.

I call BS on anyone who dares say that Silent Hill " ain't shit". Look, I'm halfway thru Amnesia and I do love the game, but I must say that Silent Hill 2 and 3 were probably better as far as psychological horror goes.

Laughing yes, just like the makers of Fallout 1&2.

It's like the SP episode about Wallmart, in the end they destroy it and say "let's not shop in big shopping malls anymore, let's shop in small stores" and then one small store where they all shopped turns into this huge shopping store after some time then they burn that as well Laughing

Cryostasis doesn't come close to amnesia, it has its moments, but you cant really find it too scary. I agree amnesia is pretty scary, and that's (for me) only because you don't have the option to fight back, that always freaked me out, I hate running and hiding from shit not being able to do anything.

The SKIDROW release works fine even after applying the patch. Don't know if it works if you copied the cracked exe though, I just used the provided serial.

May I suggest Condemned: Criminal Origins to the list of scary games? That game was one of the few that gave me chills. The atmosphere is just so well done that it's not the silly "closet scares" ala Doom 3, but genuine chilling atmosphere. Smile

Well the first on PC was very low key, wasn't it? I think it was even low key on consoles also. I don't remember any advertising for it, no marketing whatsoever. I found out about it after someone posted screenshots and I was interested. Laughing
