Because as far as the games' story is concerned humanity was wiped out, right?

The scene installers only unpack the *.pcf files. Most often the retail releases include a *.vdf file right in the root directory of the main disk where the *.pcf files are. One of those vdf files contains the install script. If you can read text you can probably figure out what is installed where when the script is run (either by steam or by scene installer). So you can check that yourself for any steamworks scene titles in the future.
You can open a vdf file with notepad or just highlight it and press F3 in Total Commander.

Well after a long, very long download I've played the first 40-50 minutes of the game and I must say that overall this Darksiders is exactly what I expected: an ultra straight port from the 360 version (with the resolution and v-sync control as the only graphical settings  ), but fun nevertheless and good to entertain with some brainless and gory action.
The performance is fine too, so why not, this game deserves to be played.

I don't blame the devs/publisher for making an "ultra straight port" as ixigia called it.
The game is what? 8 months late, it's singleplayer only, and the genre it belongs to isn't very popular on the PC (in this very thread there were guys who said "please stop releasing games like this on the PC, we are not derps")
They know it will be pirated to hell and back since:
a) everyone who was interested in it and owns a console has already bought it
b) it's a singleplayer game, for most people it's a play-it-once-and-forget-it type of game.
Now, there are companies that do a much better job when they release their late ports, such as Capcom, but IMO as long as the game doesn't have bugs, performance issues, doesn't look worse than on the consoles and it doesn't control bad I am satisfied since essentially this means that the port is at least as good as on the consoles.
If they were to release Darksiders 2 simultaneously on consoles & PC I would probably ask for a bit more though.

I haven't encountered any bug/glitch so far except the black screen during the opening videos (easily fixed renaming the AMD_Logo_movie.wmv file), the playability is perfectly fine using the 360 controller (I didn't even need the "mouse control"  ) and also the performance is rather good, considering my not so up-to-date gaming rig.
I can't complain really, since I was ready for the worst case scenario.
Also, as a pirate, I'm not in the position to judge the quality something that I haven't spent money on.

That's just silly talk. Whether you paid for it or not, you DO still have the capacity to formulate an opinion on its quality. It may not be morally "right" to flame and berate and slander a product you've stolen, but that doesn't make it any less true. |

Uninstalled. I tried playing for about 2 hours and just couldn't continue on.
The game, overall, lacks atmosphere. This is supposed to mankind's darkest hour, caught between a war between heaven and hell. Yet the environment looks bland and it's like the developers forgot that games today are supposed to use lighting/shadow/shaders.
The character designs are silly. They range from goofy mutants/monsters to ridiculously bulky (look at the size of the main character's hand!). It's like they wanted them to look like children's toys.
The game play is enjoyable at first, but becomes monotonous fairly quickly.
I know this game gets compared to God of War and Devil May Cry, but I don't even think it's close. While they share some technical gameplay aspects, GoW and DMC have so much more polish and personality. I think one possible redeeming factor of this game could be its storyline, because it seems interesting. However, the game itself just wasn't fun enough for me to want to follow it.

Nope. Mankind's gone, the Wicked and Undead are all what's left. And even if there are some well-hidden away remnants they play no role in the story.

if you like this kind of games, you shoul'd like this one. there are better games from this kind but still it is cool games with many new big guys (and i mean BIG) to take down during the quest..for me it is great and i am having alot of fun:) just killed the tiamat or what her name is...was cool fight  |
