Apparently it uses the new SSA key structure, so it's like Section 8 and a handful of others; unique keys.

It was about time. It was awesome for the pirates, and yes I took advantage of it, but the activation limits were too much of a hassle for the legal customer. I've even heard that MS would renew your key only once!!
I'm glad they sorted it out.

the game does work....but you are not able to login to any profile.
so no save game
so it's a no go... unless you play it nonstop

You could run retail "protected" RE4 (or was it 5, the last one with Chris and Sheva) too by running DX9 or DX10 executables directly with a proper command line. Just run the launcher first and open up Process Explorer or some other tool that shows the process command line to find the switch and pass it directly to main exe to go into game. GFWL is another layer tho, so that's why the CD check is so basic.
