Nowadays it's "there's a relase" and even the slowest guys have it about an hour later.
The internetz are awesome! |
Back in the day when I first used the internet, my statement was "I'm downloading at 56 Kb/s", Amazing!!
Now it's, "wtf is wrong with this torrent, only 3 Mb/s ?!"
The thing is, kids today cannot appreciate the difference, they never knew the older days of the internet and the excitment of downloading something at 56 Kb/s, unless they're from North Korea ofc |
56 KB/s download =! 56kbit download
56 KB/s download = 512-ish kbit download
I remember downloading Nintendo 64 roms at 4 KB/s at the very most, on my 56k dial-up connection, ten years ago. Star Fox 64 was 10 MB and it took like more than an hour to download. Zelda: Ocarina of Time was 25 MB and it took even longer! OMG! Anything bigger was simply unthinkable.

There's a man in front of you who's downloading the game at 350 KB/s (full speed)

56 KB/s download =! 56kbit download

Haha, yeah...as the bunghole I am I also reacted about that.
Those were 56Kbps modems and not 56KB/s modems.
My first one was a 19.90Kbps...
Took me around 30-40 minutes to download just one god damn mp3 of shit quality.

I remember copying files from one computer to another via the COM port. Now that was slow. Somewhat better than dialup but you'd be sitting around for hours.

Seems that the patch updates the game to that version:

@human_steel - skidrow's version is the same as official patch that was just out (1.0.0.17). The original exes before patch I believe were 1.0.0.7.
So it's nice to see skidrow's has the crack + patch included.
