Their stories are not related in any way so you may continue Risen. But definitely try Gothic 1 & 2 + NotR later.

JoWooD Entertainment, the BVT Group and DreamCatcher Interactive announce details of the planned digital services for ArcaniA – Gothic 4 and therefore react to the needs of the gaming community.

“Digital Rights Management as a module of the digital services has always been a tightrope walk between user friendliness and security of the product. ArcaniA – Gothic 4 is different here” explains Clemens Schneidhofer, JoWooD Entertainment. “With Arcania – Gothic 4 we deliver a high-quality product gamers will enjoy playing for hours. This joy and fun should not be disturbed by intrusive copy protection measures. So SecuROM is the perfect solution for us because it offers the necessary security and at the same time it fulfills our high expectations concerning costumer-friendliness.”

ArcaniA – Gothic 4 can be installed on an unlimited number of PCs and only needs to be activated once via the Internet. To play, which can be done at up to three PCs at a time, neither the original disc nor a constant internet connection is needed. The possibility of an uncomplicated transfer of license between the used PC offers a maximum of flexibility to the customer.

“The implemented digital services will be perfected by a user-friendly Auto Update Feature that informs the gamer pro-actively – without an annoying search – about the availability of a new Update and installs with the permission of the gamer right away” says Sascha Geschwendtner, Product Manager Games Services Sony DADC. “In addition other innovative solutions to increase the usability and the comfort of the game were implemented one of them being the verification of the release date. This feature allows the user to install the game in advance and to start it directly on the release date and therefore helps to avoid unnecessary waiting time to access the game-world.”

Sounds good, though it sucks there's yet another case of "internet activation" - even if it is only on first run.

I'd rather have a one time inet activation than CD checks.

No, CD checks are easier to circumvent/crack.

Only if you have unlimited activations. For some games youu can revoke your activation but it will not give you back the activation...

I've just seen the demo posted on a BB site, but I dont want to download from hotfile, and I really expect it to be a fake.

"Enlightenment is man's emergence from his self-imposed nonage. Nonage is the inability to use one's own understanding without another's guidance. This nonage is self-imposed if its cause lies not in lack of understanding but in indecision and lack of courage to use one's own mind without another's guidance. Dare to know! (Sapere aude.) "Have the courage to use your own understanding," is therefore the motto of the enlightenment."

Good News. They say it will come in the morning, that means in the next 3 hours. Smile

Well, it has an English language option at the beginning of the installation, so I assume it supports it. Even it has other language options.

I've finished Risen without playing any of the Gothic games and enjoyed it very much. I attempted playing thru Gothic 2 upon release but thought it was utter shite (bugs!!!!), Risen on the other hand was an excellent experience.

EDIT:

(Runs pretty good and looks quite nice.)

EDIT: US and EU color modes (Prefer EU version.)

EDIT: For a extra bonus scene kill all the sheep. Smile

You should really try G2 again, it's the best, even better than Risen IMHO.

Isn't the EU/US mode kind of stupid, or are people stupid maybe Very Happy i mean its just about the saturation it seems, it takes 1 sec to change (on TV) and about 5 sec on a computer in the settings for the gfx card.

The US version seems to have more bloom and brighter textures. Thta can't be done with a few buttons on your TV. I have no idea why it's needed though, I'd be insulted if I was a US resident.
