thats the diagram i wanted to use but i didn't pay attention that one calls for diodes and the other calls for something different. i thought they were all the same with the exception of the different board models. it works either way right?

i appreciate all the help. now that i got that part over i'm gonna try to catch up on some reading so i dont have to keep asking questions.

well shit - this is the last thing i've done:

Quote:
Dump your keyvault from nand (This is the same for all motherboard versions)

Inject Key Vault into your version of XeLLous/Free60.

Flash free60.bin to your XBOX.

i used the prepatched free60 and smc files and i used this command to patch the key vault "nandpro free60.bin: -w16 kv1.bin 1 1"

next step says connect to your tv and you should get a blue screen with some info on it. i get an E79 error instead. i've read that it could be a bad dump of my key to a problem with the jtag wiring. i did three different dumps of the key and the nand and compared them using the fc command with nandpro, they were all identical. i've not encountered any errors while reading from the nand, no bad blocks nothing.

i used the 2nd jtag method i posted, this one - http://img340.imageshack.us/img340/5687/newwiring.jpg

have you encountered this before? it is my jtag method or something else do you think?

? the page you linked me to doesn't say anything about injected a config into the free60 image, unless you mean the keyvault?

how do you do it garus? i dumped my KV as listed above. everything i've read says you have to get xell running to get your key but according to the guide you linked me to i have inject the key into xell.... confusing shit

anyway after writing xell i get the E79 error instead of the screen with my key on it

yea it's a falcon - same deal, E79. i guess it must be in my jtag wiring. i'll try wiring it like it is in that diagram included in the rar file and see what happens then.

i guess i'm ready to throw in the towel. i have no idea why but i keep getting E79 after patching and writing xell to my nand. i've googled all day yesterday and last night too and i see a lot of people with this problem and no one has any answers.

i rewired my jtag using this diagram last night. it is identical to this.
http://www.boxxdr.com/boxxdrjtag.html

all connections are absolutely solid. i'm certain there are no legs or anything lifted from the transistors on the 360 mobo. as i've said i can read and write fine with no errors and all dumps compared are identical so whatever the problem is it HAS to be in the jtag but i am 110% certain that the wiring is correct and all connections are good. i had my brother do the jtag wiring both times and he is really, really good with an iron. makes it look too easy actually.

i'm checking with the boxxdr to see what he will charge to finish this for me. i love a good challenge but this is just stupid now. 2 seperate jtag wiring jobs and still getting e79... absolutely no reason for it as far as i can tell.

ARRGGGHHHH damn it's frustrating. i'm capable of doing this wtf damn it

finally, success.

i should've listened to you garus. when i wired up the jtag through the method you said you used it worked on the first try. of course now xell won't update to xellous but i'll get that sorted. as far as i'm concerned the hard part is over.

garus what do you recommend? freeboot or xbreboot? from what i have read both seem to be the same unless you were using a dual nand configuration.

i'm a bit confused on how to patch the smc.bin file. the guide i'm following right now doesn't even mention an smc file and is for loading XBR so i'm kind of tempted to follow it.
