Wondering if anybody has experienced one? Or if there is anybody who actually practicies it and uses different methods to go through lucid dreams.

Here is a FAQ about it: http://www.lucidity.com/LucidDreamingFAQ2.html

It's a very interesting concept and the reason for asking here is because i got a question. I'm thinking of trying it out and asking my subconscious what my biggest fear is, is that stupid because of the chances of psychological problems?

The whole concept seems cool but the risks of becoming crazy seem high, maybe i'm just a bit paranoid.

lol you can't become crazy because of lucid dreaming Laughing

To have proper lucid dreams you need to really practice. Keep dream journals, make reality checks, and so on. And it's a long process.

I had few, but they were short. I also did a research on it, but then saw that I'd loose interest in it, so I didn't try it.

I've heard tho that they are also a fun way of relieving stress. You can do what you want in your dreams Smile

you can't ask your subconscious while lucid sleeping.
that's just... argh.

I've had/have lucid dreams.
They're cool, best part is when you decide to open your eyes and you'e staring at a brightly sunlit window. the feeling is rather... explosive.

Sometimes I'm really tired and start fantasizing about different things and instead of loading a game I find the idea to go to sleep and explore my thoughts much more interesting Smile

yeah, but it gets boring after a while. Sad
it's all... meh... sort of.
a lot of people just close their eyes and use "imagination" and call it lucid dreaming. lawl.
you know you're dreaming, so you can change little things, and feel it... almost real... almost not... but your senses are awesomely wonky. I once thought i could smell, and fell when i was dreaming. It was weird and odd. usually, lucid dreams are nightmares where you think you woke up, but didn't. and you keep waking up, and you keep waking up, and it all feels real and amazing, and then you wake up and you still think you're dreaming so you rape a wall with your face, and then they find you days later, dead, because you haven't been for work.

yes. dream control works, takes time to practice and learn.
so does lucid dreaming. controlled lucid dreaming.
accidental lucid dreaming is cool and all, but knowing when you'll be lucid dreaming, and then doing it, that's when it's cool. Very Happy

my teach told me, to set up a faint alarm by your bed, around 2-3 am, if you went to bed at 10 or so. Also drink a glass of water before you go to sleep. your bladder will wake you ever so slightly.

Takes practice. A lot of people just wake up when they realize they're dreaming. Sad

Ah I see, what about dream paralysis? I've read some scary crap about a dark ghostlike being coming in and sitting on you etc while you feel paralyzed and cant do anything for a couple of minutes.

Reason for the interest is because a friend of mine practiced this during the summer and at the end when he got good at it he was finally able to control his dreams without a problem. He told me that he summoned his brother that had passed away from leukemia when he was young.

I don't think I have the same ambitions, would be fun to fly though as many seem to want to do that. Maybe Lutz being into psychology and such would be able to give some feedback on this.

no dark ghostlike shits...
you cant summon people...
it's all your brain...

dream paralysis is just you wake up ahead of your body.
your body is still in sleep state.
you can't move it.
you can't do anything.
and then it jumps back.

you can have sex with anything you want.
do anything you want.
you're only limited by your 'imagination'
or shit you watch on tv.

I get sleep paralysis a lot. It can get annoying. Fully awake yet unable to move. Then I have to let myself fall asleep again to try and wake up normally.

Dude, that sounds like narcolepsy to me. Might be very worthwhile to speak to a doctor about that, if you haven't already.

Nah, this is different judging by WIkipedia description or Narcolepsy. I'm just spending too much time in front of my PC and I'm peaking with energy.

I should just get more exercise and chew some Valerian roots. Very Happy

I had this happen to me once - scared the ever living shit out of me. Thought I had twisted and broken my neck while asleep or something. Not fun....

I've had some wierd thing's happen during sleep, basically hit by something in my dream, apparently hard enough for me to wake up and feel pain where i was hit, or being asleep, and my body jolting to wake me up, massive jolts, but the wierd one as i aformentioned is being woke up by something hitting me and feeling the pain waking.

I experienced massive jolts (like I was being electrocuted) when I was 9-12 yo., just as I fell asleep, the body just jolting. Thankfully that crap stopped. Razz

Oh I still get that. I start to fall asleep and then either I feel like I'm falling or start to dream and in merely seconds sth hits me, or I fall and then woke up and I my whole body shakes (jolts)...

I find it funny and interesting Very Happy

That's some strange sleep related anomalies I'm reading here. Sleep paralysis and electrocution-like experiences sound especially disturbing to me

I do have one weird sleeping habit of myself: sleepwalking. Jumping out of bed to switch on the light has happened too. The light switch is near the staircase by the way, look out below... And of course I once went out of bed to shave myself, made some breakfast... while I was still sleepwalking.

Thankfully those weird sleepwalking episodes haven't occurred for some time now.

Falling in dreams occurred frequently while I was a kid. I don't have those dreams these days Sad

I would dream that I'm falling (from a tall building or a stairs, it doesn't matter) and when I'd fell I would wake up with a twich and short sleep paralysis.

And these days it happens to me when I take a nap and watch TV. Then I get really sleepy and go to some semi dream state, and usually I think I'm falling from bed or sth like that and just jolt and wake up. Sometimes that comes with drooling grinhurt

jots/falling are you body checking you're not dead.
your body checks that your muscles and nerves aren't dead.

think of it as post. power on self test

these problems are normal and common and a lot of people don't notice them Razz
when you're really really tired, after a stressful day and you just want to sleep, you might experience jolts and what not, but you could be asleep to notice.

paralysis, you could just think your body is numb, or even you open your eyes, stare at the ceiling and you don't want to move cause you're so comfortable, and you don't notice it.

people should get into lucid/ludic dreaming Cool Face
but not too much.
