Just to confirm, if i got my hands on an HTC desire or the like, i would need to keep it for every time I turn on the machine? Aka you require these devices very time you boot the system?
Looks like I have to buy a ps3 before they start shipping ones that prevent this from ever working fuck... i need a ps3 by xmas 250gb is good enough for like a couple games to have on hand?
I know its probably been asked a million times, but can you connect your old ps3 hd to pc, copy all the data (like saved files, installs and etc) and then just paste them on a new hd? Or is the process more complicated like an xbox 360 hd.
Also, as I understand internal ps3 hd is ntfs, so can you, instead of using the FTP, just paste the games above 4 gb straight in by just connecting it to a pc?

2. Internal HDD isn't NTFS, it's a Sony custom format. Your PC won't be able to directly access the internal HDD.

I guess I'll just wait for the new backup manager. Rumors are that it will support external ntfs format. And if its not the case, then I guess FTP is the way to go.

Im assuming the new ps3 downloadble releases that have appeared in the last 14 days can just be ftped to the internal without any messing about?Or do they require extracting of some kind?

Pretty much. All you do is download the FTP.pkg. Install it on your ps3 and then use some kind of an FTP client to transfer the folders you downloaded.
Of course everything comes rared so you'll have to unrar the game folder first.

That would be awesome (psp emulator). I like some of the psp games but the little screen is very unappealing to me (my psp is gathering dust for more than a year). I would love to replay old god of war, plus the new one, and of course MGS peacewalker on the big screen.
Since they're porting the hack to everything they can get their hands from mobile phones to the psp and beyond , isn't there a hack where i can just connect my pc to the ps3 via usb and hack it like that ? I've got a 250GB PS3 slim and it would be sort of annoying to have to use an external hdd when i've got all that space not being used . How would one go about dumping downloaded PS3 games onto the internal hdd without the use of an external hdd ( using network , or some other method ) ?
ok so to transfer games from youre Pc to youre Ps3 internall Hdd you can use Filezila
1: Start up PS3 FTP Server
2: Browse to folder 'dev_bdvd' on the PS3 and transfer the entire contents to a folder named as that games Disc ID (BLESXXXX) on your PC.
When you want to play it..
1: Start up PS3 FTP Server
2: Browse to folder (BLESXXXX) on your PC and transfer the entire folder to 'dev_hdd0/game/LAUN12345/GAMEZ' on your PS3.
It will appear next time you open Backup Manager.. Good for storing those games with files over 4GB..
Just thought I'd mention.. It took about 30-40min to transfer Resident Evil 5 (11.2GB) from the PS3 HDD to PC .. and about 30-40min to transfer NFS:Shift (3.88GB) from the PS3 BD to the PC and back again using FTP.
one last thing,in order to connect you need to start FTp on youre PS3 and you will ge given an IP,that ip must appear in Filezila(you have to manually insert it)and of course you need a router with 3 wires
1 is the internet wire
2 is youre PC wire
3 is youre Ps3 wire

No, sorry mate. Judging by reports from PSX-Scene, it seems Sony hasn't just shut down the proxy access.... they're completely closed the exploit on which the DNS/Proxy servers were based, so there's literally no way of doing it now.

I have an iPod touch 1G and I am going to try to install 'openiboot' and then jailbreak my PS3 system with psfreedom (hope I wont screw my iPod permanently ) any way I wanted to know if BM comes with the psfreedom "package" by default or do I need to find another source?
