(A lot does point to it being a bit more streamlined and rather changed from how the original game played.)
EDIT: That's Hawke?

That's the female version.
That's the male version. Oh and btw, bad approach to hide that Flemeth/Morrigan (I think it's Morrigan and not Flemeth, because if you played the latest DLC for DA:O you know that Hawke is your son/daughter) is a Darkspawn now. Look at the Qunari's horns and then at her "Hairstyle"...

Might contain DA:O and DA2 spoilers though it's just speculation and based on current articles about the game.
Ah I meant it as the site I linked to described the character as Hawke female version whereas I thought the screen was Morrigan (As per the hairstyle mainly but plate-armor is a bit odd.) the other image in relation I thought was Flemeth (Witch-like dress and aged plus the hair and such and the concept art of Flemeth matches that image.)
Unsure how the "ritual" phase in DA:O will plan out in DA2 but we'll see.
(Some forum posts and speculations say you control the "offspring" as the hero of the new adventure but DA2 takes place only ten years around DA and begins around the time Lothering is razed though concludes after the Archdemon business per the 10 year time period.)
(Bit messy as it's mostly bits and pieces from interviews and previews plus various forum posts and the like, should be somewhat accurate though.)

They already said that Hawke is not Morrigan's son/daughter, since Hawke was already around when the Blight happened (he/she is a survivor) . BUT I honestly believe that some connection is there.

You'll see. Hawke will be the son/daughter. Because it's quite obvious after you played Witch Hunt. You shouldn't give a fuck about what they say also. Qunari have horns now. Fucking horns!
Ah... nvm, don't listen to me. The best thing we could do is to forget everything we learned in DragonAge:Origins and Awakening because nothing in DragonAge2 will be really related to it anymore. Except some names and characters.

What??? How can you say that Hawke is the son/daughter of Morrigan?? Even the developers stated its not true and Hawke was present during the DA:O storyline!!! I never saw anything in witch hunt that alluded to this... what r u talking about exactly??
1 and 2 are still amazing.

That is physically impossible. He can in no way be the son of Morrigan, cause he was already there when the events of DA: O happened.

Woe the day when someone in Bioware decided to include a demon baby twist in the game.
Remember how Flemeth stays alive? Morrigan, by conceiving a baby from a man with obviously extraordinary genes, also wanted to enact the same ritual to prolong her own life. A female baby tainted with the essence of an archdemon seems like a powerful vessel for a witch imo. She would be as powerful as Flemeth which in turn would enable Morrigan to have a fighting chance against her.
But there is no way Hawke is that baby. Unless somehow Morrigan went back in time and raised Hawke. She goes through a portal in the last DLC, so maybe thats what happens.

If Hawke is Morrigan's kid, then you have a 10 year old with a beard.
NO LINKS TO ILLEGAL STUFF IN SIGS - DLC IS ILLEGAL TOO

Just a thought. If its true and the kid is Morrigans then maybe it can be Hawke because he is kinda supernatural and all powerful maybe just he grows up faster than normal kids and just stays in fully mature male for for the rest of his life and being immortal or shit like that?

Not even that is possible, since Hawke is a Blight survivor, before even Morrigan gets pregnant.
The only possibility for Hawke to be the son/daughter is through time travelling.

Oh well that sucks then if time traveling will really be in the game. Have to wait and see for more information on Hawke and his story.

That is possible, considering that Flemeth kidnapped her "daughters" (including Morrigan).

Isn't that kidnapping idea still just an assumption? Or was it confirmed somehow and I missed it?

Spoiler: | Well, Morrigan says that Flemeth is not human. |
Hawke could end up being Morrigan's lost brother/sister also.

An interesting read:
http://www.pcgamer.com/2010/09/18/dragon-age-2-origins-through-mass-effect-specs/
I don't know if it has the same info some other previews had already though.
In any case, it addressed some of the concerns I had about the way the game is structured. And has some other interesting details.
I have to say, it doesn't look all that bad, at least on paper...

Hm, not so sure.
Quote: | The game’s sharpened and tightened look demonstrates the team’s commitment to the revamp: BioWare are aiming for visuals that truly represent Dragon Age’s violent world. Stark, clean lines dominate, high contrast environs as the counterpoint to spiky, angular enemies. It’s a galaxy away from Origins’ muddy browns and indistinct texturing. |
Sounds like a lot of euphemisms there. The "muddy browns and indistinct texturing" actually allowed the darkspawn of DA1 to look realistic within the world, like they had indeed been remade from the other races' templates.
The new "spiky, angular" look on the other hand makes them look more like they're ripped out of a comic book and sloppily pasted into the game, at odds with their environments.

I'm gonna wait for a PC Gameplay vid, before I judge the game.
I mean, this gameplay looks about the same as the console version Dragon Age: Origins

Isn't this for consoles only? I'm pretty sure they had to rework the rest of the game to go with this combat system, which means we the old combat + the new everything else
