wow a ftp server already... for the 360 jtag users it took longer for a working FTP server was up.. ps3 dashboard is more easy to crack I believe.
lets also hope its more easy to add codecs to this dashboard.. for the 360 jtag users there still isn't x264 support...

Apparently the FTP server is actually Sony's work anyhow, something built into a DEV machine .. only ported using the Sony SDK to Jailbroken machines.

You should have followed it up with my question about why he couldn't be arsed to re-encode the file that makes it a non working release to a lot of people Very Happy

I'm wondering how long it would take to re-encode a movie file which is >4GB in size. Does the original file size even matter when you re-encode?

a working XBMC first on a ps3 would be fun to.. for jtag it isn't there yet.
I really believe that we will have it faster on the ps3 then on the 360 quite ironic.. but Sony helps a lot. Smile

SCEE takes down the Swedish Jailbreak'ers now!

Sony has set it's eyes on three resellers of the PSJailbreak devices that are based in Sweden.

Manzzon, Rejoy and WeChip have all been served their papers, and have of course removed the product from their websites.

Google News Translate: http://translate.google.ca/translate...n&hl=&ie=UTF-8

Based on the news above, Sony is asking for "1 Million Crowns" for each reseller in damages, which works out to $137,299.72 USA at today's rate.

Sony also brags to the Swedish media, that they been already successful in stopping the massive piracy that the PSJailbreak sales has caused in the countries of "Australia, Germany, Hong Kong and the Netherlands, where sales of PS Jailbreak have been already declared unlawful."

Sony are desperate.

I was gonna ask about them. In the UK, Mr Mod chips are doing them for £24.94 plus there's a 5% discount (a whopping £1.25 off) til the end of september. I think I shall order one

Thinking about getting a PS3 tomorrow (plan on anyway). So if I understood it right there are now two different "jailbreaks" for the PS3? One which has additional features, the devkit one? Thinking of getting the one from foundmy posted earlier in thread. I just want to be able to rip and play games from HDD as well as DL'ing one or two....

or the moto droid. i have scoured the fucking internet today and their isn't shit to be had as far as a teensy or at90key goes. you can buy one of those compatible chips and make your own board but for the amount of work that would go into it i can't say i care enough about it to go through that much trouble.

also this was posted by zerosignal but i'm not exactly sure if/how it would work. it has the 5 compatible chips listed at the bottom but i just dont understand how its compatible with all that shit... is it a programmer for programmers or something?

Yay, me too. I'll just hope it will be shipped on time. I'm a little bit sceptical about proper iPhone-version seeing the sunlight, maybe for a long time (or never). This will do just fine. Smile

I have also received a ton of requests from people to port this to the iPhone and/or one of their Symbian devices… my answer to that is : RTFM!! In other words, no it is simply *impossible*. It can only be ported to other Linux devices. However, we are close to having it work with IphoneLinux (actually, I just got confirmation a few seconds ago that it’s finally working) as NTAuthority spent countless hours porting it and fixing the controller’s incomplete driver in order to make this work. Once his port is finished, and stable, he will make it available to everyone, so stay tuned and follow the Device compatibility list on the wiki!

This might be good.....

current firmware installed is 3.30

i want to use psn+ but that wants me to update when i go to use it, i thin the minimum firmware needed is 3.40

anyway around this so i can still keep the correct firmware for this hack and use psn+?

thanks

FW 3.41 and the DNS or Proxy bypasses, that's your only way for now... and it's not a wise choice if you're going to be PAYING for PSN+ since Sony are bound to block the proxy again soon. You'll just end up wasting money.

Heya guys, has anyone come across a list for the released games and their appropriate folder IDs? A lot of the releases Im downloading are missing the Game ID or Folder ID depending on how you look at it and its driving me crazy.

When Duplex says "hey just throw this in the root folder of your EXT drive" will it actually work like that? I was under the impression that in order for Backup Manager to load these files that it would have to have the correct ID... or is it like the Xbox managers of yesteryear where it just goes and finds the executables wherever they may be? Any clarification on this would be appreciated.

Nah, you don't need the correct GameID .. Backup Manager will still read it fine. Last time I checked, the game folder needs to be inside;

game/LAUN12345/GAMEZ/

I wonder why Duplex are saying that you just put them in GAMEZ? Does that even work? I was under the impression that it *had* to be game\LAUN12345\GAMEZ .... Scratch Head

Its my understanding that like The_Keltz implied, this only applies to external storage. Which Ill add works great! Just using a 1TB My Passport that cost me $80.

Oh... and thanks for the heads up Sabin.
