iOS 4.1 Update and Jailbreak
Coming out today!
Jailbreak is coming, probably just waiting for the official realease of the iOS:

The best way to stay up to date with the latest jailbreak iOS 4.1 information is to follow @QuickPWN on Twitter. As far as I know, the following jailbreaks may be released when iOS 4.1 is out:
* Jailbreak iOS 4.1 with redsn0w – redsn0w is no doubt THE best jailbreak out there. It’s created by the famous Dev Team who makes reliable jailbreaks. It will definitely be updated to support iOS 4.1
* Jailbreak iOS 4.1 with Spirit – Spirit is the easiest jailbreak out here. It’s created by comex. There may be a Spirit Jailbreak for iOS 4.1, but don’t count on it as Apple could easily patch that.
* Jailbreak iOS 4.1 with limera1n – Geohot was going to release a limera1n jailbreak for iOS 4.1, but it looks like he has left the jailbreak scene for now. He did state that someone else may take on his work before he closed his blog and Twitter account.

4.0.1 is currently breakable, it's only 4.0.2 (thanks to your info!) that isn't. Last I checked, 4.0.1 can actually be jailbroken via Jailbreakme.com. I couldn't test that personally as 4.0.1 isn't available on iPod Touch, only 4.0.0 and 4.0.2

As sabin said, 4.0.1 is fine to jailbreak.
4.0.1 was the antenna software "fix" it also changed the graphics of the signal bars at the top left of the display.
4.0.2 was the patch that closed the pdf exploit used by jailbreakme.  |

It´s the official update files! Don´t update yet.
I was just announcing that it was officially released.

Yeah, great news
It´s a Bootrom Based Exploit.

This is the reason why iOS devices (like iPhone 3GS (new bootrom), iPhone 4, iPad, iPod touch 3G / 4G) which shipped after November 2009 are currently not jailbreakable via PwnageTool because it uses the 24kpwn bootrom exploit, already patched by Apple.

If he's at 4.0.2 then isn't he NOT jailbroken? Might as well just update to 4.1 and then jailbreak when it's released.. no reason to stay at 4.0.2 if he's not jailbroken...
