I'd like to be able to try this, but I have an internally impaired PS3. It only has a 40GB HDD so even if I didn't have a load of other shit on there already, I still wouldn't be able to fit it on the drive |
lol, I feel your pain buddy. I have one of the older 60GB models. Good for one game, two if I'm lucky.
Can we put a new huge HDD inside though and tell the PS3 to format it in whatever it formats in, then use the FTP to access it?
I thought you could plug pretty much any new HDD into PS3... |
Yes, you can upgrade the internal drive. Funds are short for me at the moment though si I won't be doing that for a while.
Also, you'll get a good few games on a 60GB drive. I'm using an 500GB external drive at the moment and I have 12 games on there at the moment and its not even half full. And that's including the monsterous GOW3 which weighs in at 40GB. |
Well if the FTP solution fixes the file size problem I'd definitely want to go that route. Still waiting on a device I own to run the exploit though, haha... It's funny how this is going, the most popular devices are receiving their ports LAST, and the most useless devices are receiving it first... backwards!
I mean come on, The Gizboo or whatever the fuck Waninkoko did, a TI calculator? BAH!

I'm referring even to exclusives, like Demon's Souls, InFamous and Ratchet & Clank.

You sir, are a saint. This thread has exploded since I checked yesterday and keeping track of the iphone stuff and galaxy S was getting tricky.

@Horror
It certainly seems so! All we need now is a Windows tool that can properly rip games from old scene ISOs and we're complete! ^_^
@Grimmmy
No probs man, glad it's of use!

Do you reckon with the PES 2011 demo coming out tomorrow on PSN that someone will be able to download and leak it forthose of us without PS3 internet connectivity?

I'm still nervous Sony is able to flag all these systems for a future ban, haha... Just like MS does.

Since a fair bit of this is the ripping of original games.. how fussy is the PS3 drive for ripping? Like 360 games have to be damn near fresh outta the box condition, is the PS drive more forgiving?
Just thinking of joining Lovefilm (rental service in the UK) and i can guess what condition some of the disc's will be in..!

I ripped LBP and GOW Collection with zero issues. To the internal HDD. LBP my kids play so it gets muffed about a little. But the BluRay discs are supposed to have some kind of anti scratch coating on them if I remember correctly.....

You put the game folder into dev_hdd0/game/LAUN12345/GAMEZ

BD-ROMs are a hell of a lot more resistant to scratches and scrapes than standard DVD-DLs .. you should be fine.

I would say yes. In the video he posted he is using an ipod touch 3G. This device doesn't have any iBoot exploit as of now, so it cannot run linux nor android and thus relies on the same userland exploit (software exploit) as the iPhone 4 at the moment.
For example, if you want iOS 4.X jailbroken on this device, you need to use jailbreakme.com as well.

Hmm well fingers crossed. I kinda suspect he's got jack shit though, he's said very little and hasn't produced anything to suggest he's doing much apart from an easily doctored video...

Looks like mathieulh has found where the title ID list is... the list that gets uploaded to Sony... perhaps this means we can edit it and block the hack ID from being sent to prevent ban.
Quote: | the last used title ids list is in /dev_hdd0/vsh/pushlist/ within the game.dat and patch.dat, that's what's uploaded to the psn upon login. |

So wait... if you can FTP to the internal drive now, could a internal to external transfer or vice versa be far behind? Also, since people can FTP into their PS3 internal HD now, will we see PSN games start popping up?

Like the nfo on the FTP pkg kinda says , its way sketchy..... Crashes like a SOB. It will be very nice when they polish it and work out some of the bugs....
-EDIT I think it might have been the FTP client I was using.Filezilla wasnt up to the task at hand , but so far so good with FlashFXP. Just FYI.....

you need to update to 3.41 for jailbreak,don't update it further though,
link for 3.41
http://deu01.ps3.update.playstation.net/update/ps3/image/eu/2010_0727_00c835be718fc3d5f793e130a2b74217/PS3UPDAT.PUP
after that,format your USB device to FAT32
create Folder named PS3 and in there folder and Named it UPDATE and put the FW there,connect the USB to the PS3 and update.
don't update through PSN,only 3.42 there,and it's unhackeble from the time being.

Can anyone give me the link to a list of all compatible USB boards for Jailbreak ? Sorry if it was already posted/asked in the thread.
Teensy are out everywhere so ill just look for something else even if i have to pay a little more. I know i'm a bit late but i was waiting for Sony to make a move before making one myself.
Thanks
