There's already a campaign DLC as mentioned via that book (I linked to a article about that a few pages back though based on the review on the previous page or two the book isn't that well written.)
Also the campaign is called Book1 and there will probably be more about that later on as the campaign is expanded and other content introduced I'd guess, we'll see though for now I guess they're prioritizing fixing the various bugs reported.
(Only the performance is a bit of a problem at times here and I had a crash late in the game once but other than that it's worked out OK.)

From someone on the quartertothree forums. Worrying!
EDIT: And I read someone else saying Stardock will give only a 75% refund if it's for non-technical reasons.

Kinda confused what 'reasonable amount of time' or 'full refund' means for the #1 right on the GBoR page if I can't get a refund during beta and I can't get a refund after release. |

The game isn't as bad as people are making out, sure it's a work in progress but what 4x game isn't on release? Those people after refunds should be more careful what they spend their dollars on if it means so much to them imo.

ok 'ive played pretty much now. i done the campaign and a couple of matches.
so far im enjoying this game very much, its just like civ but you got hero units and magic and crap. also you get a spouse and children to take over your throne. i have to say its very entertaning.
some things i feel that need a bit of patching is mainly the AI, its not very bright, for instance atm im playing a large world with 5 races in, i've only built 5-6 cities but they are pretty maxed out. i dont really need anymore either, since my hero army got over 1k in strenghts, but for some reason the AI thinks its enough to garrison troops with 100 STR in their citys when i come roaming down on them, also they dont really try to intercept my armys or weaken em by several small assaults. they just hide until they got an equal matched army.
also diplomacy need some work, the AI dont see me as a treath since i only got 5 citys so when i give em a offer it just refuses me or i have to add 1000 points to the negotiation. witch is kinde of wierd since i can stomp em like ants.
also some performance issues that i've noticed, i think there is a mem leak some where since after playing the game for 2-3 hours straight it really start to run heavy.
and with AA on i got really bad FPS, witch i shouldnt have since i can run mafia 2 with evrything on high with out stutter. so some optimation is required.
but over all the game really rocks in my book. im having a blast with it.

I see. Now that would be quite alright if the game to this point would have inspired me to buy it. Sadly, it hasn't.

it seems that game does not like "patched" exes, but only complains if date is Sep-01 or later.
Here is example of "fixed" exe, that reduced out of memory crashes, which also stopped working after Sep-01:
http://forums.elementalgame.com/393090/page/1/
And in same thread, confirmation of new patch soon:
Quote: | Please note that any 1.06's patched with the above are going to start complaining on September 1st about an invalid patch being detected. I will see if we can't make 1.07 not complain about this when it's released Wednesday or Thursday (of this week).

P.S.
Btw, 1.00/1.01 versions of the game have no such feature, so it's probably added in 1.05, when ImpulseReactor.dll got changed to current version used in both 1.05 and 1.06.

If you're having the weird constant loading/white screen/hang up on loading screen etc...
Try this:
Uninstall the game.
Install the game over, fresh.
Then install the patces 1.01, 1.05, 1.06 in order. Obviously using the skidrow fix/crack on the 1.06 patch....
I can't say why, but it worked for me and made the problem you're talking about go away.

Yes, but not everyone would like to change their system date for a single, buggy game.
Can create all sort of weird problems with other applications.

My game switches from white-screen ingame except the ui or it simply stops loading after the initial loading-screen.
HD5770 here.
Suppose it's an ATI thingy obviously.

(I'm up north on vacation typing on an extremely slow connection so bear with me)
I don't think people yet fully realize the completeness of Stardock's fail on Elementa's launch.
I'm going to write more about this but not only did we think v1.05 was ready for everyone but we felt v1.0 was too. That's the level of disconnect/poor judgment on our part we're talking about.
If the game had come out in February, it would still have been a disastrous launch because lack of time wasn't the issue. It was blindness, sheer blindness. We felt the game was finished. And I speak of v1.0, not v1.05. Blindness.
There will be massive consequences for Stardock's game studio. I'll be talking more about this when I get back. But the game wasn't released early. The game was released poorly. Head in the sand syndrome imo. I've read the reviews as much as possible given my hideous internet access up here and I agree with them. We just didn't see what they were talking about. We thought any complaints would be about polish points or something.
The point is, the issue here is far far worse than many of you think it is. I wish it was an issue of the game being released too early. That's an easy thing for a company to "fix". Elemental's launch is the result of catastrophic poor judgment on my part.
EVERY competent software developer knows that the programmer must never be the one deciding whether the program is done. Yet, my love of Elemental broke my self discipline and I began coding on the game itself in vast amounts and lost any sense of objectivity on where the game's state was. I normally only program the AI on our games so I can keep a level of distance from the game itself to determine whether it's "Ready". On Elemental, I was in love with the world and the game and lost my impartiality.
We'll do better. |

I don't get how you fall in love with a game what you cant even finish. Did they even installed and played the game before they released? Its the same like you fall in love with a 300 kg chick and 2 weeks later you tell your friends you didnt even notice she was fat.
Empty again

Game of the year? Uh, no.
Epsilon: Game is great btw, I love it, so far it's a definite goty. It's remarkable how much has changed since the beta, stardock have been working their asses off, and it shows.

Yeah, I don't know about that guy sometimes. If he loved the game so much, wouldn't he have spent even MORE time getting things right? His own closed-beta / pre-order beta testers were telling him it wasn't ready.
If he really loved it he would have done a lot more to get it right, not rush it out before Civ V releases. He's a joke, IMO. First he talks shit to anyone daring to slam his precious game, then he deletes threads and bans his own customers for complaining. He even claims that he'd be "very surprised" if any reviews were poor.
I don't believe a word he says right now. I just like seeing him spin out of control.
PS - Brad, you can't write for shit. And your book is basically evil blacks vs holy and good whites, with flat characters and been-done plots. So sad that people will buy your feces for a DLC code.

Obviously his love for the game made him blind to the fact that its riddled with performance problems and bugs, at which point one has to wonder how come the rest of the developer team and the testers never noticed those problems and if they did notice, why did Stardock release the game in such a state?
Meh, all lies and its kinda insulting. People arent stupid.
Edit: I'm horrified by the amount of cocksucking going on in Stardock forums. It's unreal.
