					| To make a DVD5 with this game by: pakrat2k2
do a search on google for 16comp

16comp l( L ) data2.cab will list then event ID filename... make note of the language you want to keep..

Then extract the ISO to your HD NTFS needed as over 5G

Goto video folder and delete all the wav files EXCEPT ENG_Cutscene_00.wav

 DELETE Directx folder

DELETE Language (readme.txt) files from Root

 Unzip 16comp to root dir

goto command prompt root dir of your extracted iso

 16comp d data2.cab 90 datav_fr.dat

 16comp d data2.cab 91 datas_fr.dat

 16comp d data2.cab 92 datav_de.dat

 16comp d data2.cab 93 datas_de.dat

 16comp d data2.cab 94 datav_it.dat

 16comp d data2.cab 95 datas_it.dat

 16comp d data2.cab 96 datav_es.dat

 16comp d data2.cab 97 datav_es.dat

You NOW have a filesize of ~3.3G which you CAN burn to NORMAL DVD

you can find it here http://myplc.com/sony/bin/i6comp.zip

If anyone knows hwo to make it work please post a step by step cause i have no idea how 16com work and probably 80% of the people here too.

					| | Code: | | Thought this should go here as it seems where most backup threads are.
Anyway , as you guys may know act of war dvd version is dvd9 (or at least euro version is ,dunno bout us one) at 5.13gb. So can't do a direct copy unless you got a dual layer writer ,but you can split it to 2 dvd 5 quite easily.

 Anyway here go's.

Make folder on hardrive and copy contents of act of war there. Make two more folders named Disc 1 and 2 for now.

From main folder copy these files to disc 1 folder.

 Direct X
 Manual
 Video
 Actofwar.dat
 Aow.ico
 Autorun.exe
 Autorun.inf
 data1.cab
 data1.hdr
 data2.cab
 data3.cab
 data4.cab
 engine32.cab
 layout.bin
 Léeme.txt
 Leggimi.txt
 Liesmich.txt
 LisezMoi.txt
 Readme.txt
 setup.bmp
 setup.boot
 setup.exe
 setup.ini
 setup.inx

Should come to 3.54GB. That's disc 1 sorted.

Now copy these from main folder to disc 2

 Video
 actofwar.dat
 Aow.ico
 Autorun.inf
 data5.cab
 data6.cab
 engine32.cab
 layout.bin
 Léeme.txt
 Leggimi.txt
 Liesmich.txt
 LisezMoi.txt
 Readme.txt
 setup.bmp
 setup.boot
 setup.exe
 setup.ini
 setup.inx

 Should be 2.06gb.

Now open autorun.inf on disc 2 and and remove line open=Autorun.exe. That's it. Now just burn the contents of the folders (not the folder) as a data disc with volume lable AOW (both discs). I used record now max , but should work with others. When it finished with disc 1 it will just ask for install disc , swap discs and and press ok.

You're done. Act of war backed up onto 2 dvd5.

Well the problem with this tutorial is that he wrote 16comp insted of i6comp. So the easy way is to unpack the i6comp.exe from : http://myplc.com/sony/bin/i6comp.zip to the folder where you have unpacked the iso.
Then open a dos window : Start/Run : type cmd and press ok

browse to the folder where you have unpacked the iso. Then just copy and paste (16comp d data2.cab 90 datav_fr.dat) one by one in the dos window. when it's all over make it as iso again and you should have a size of 3 gb

					| As with pallebrun I can also confirm it works beyond perfectly! Wow.. all that foreign speech these companies make for a global launch! Ouch! Now.. we need a cracked v1.03 update to get some better Nat Negotiation! Game is pretty decent - dunno quite yet if its better than Zero Hour (which has 12 distinct Generals). Gfx are obviously 5x better but its all about gameplay.

					| good game but too simple really. I like the video's and the ingame previews and sounds but the gameplay is too plain. i only played the first few missions so i may be wrong but i certainly didn't feel like i was challenged | |

Sure, the graphics and story etc are great, but not my type of game.. But to you guys who like these kind of games: Doesn´t it become boring after a while?.. same thing all the time...

innovation is rare. sport games are always the same, shooters are always the same, real time strategy is always the same.
but only in their basic elements. in the details they're often pretty different while still beeing the same type of game (obviously, an RTS will always be an RTS, there is nothing you can do about it)

Playing Generals all the time gets boring. But Act of War is, while beeing very similar to Generals, a new game, with new units, new tactics, new maps, new graphics, new story. And that's more than some *new* shooter's or FIFA games for example offered lately.

					| Thanks for the great explanation on how to reduce the size of this release.
worked like a charm!

Still looking for a keyboard shortcut to have units "force attack" something (like cars or barrels).

					| Hmm I've been playing some skirmish games...
I liked the single-player campaign, but I donno, skirmish (and probably multiplayer) isn't that fun for me. Specially when you play as the Consortium.

					| I find stealth units to be almost completely useless, there are so many ways for them to be detected that they might as well not even have stealth capability.

well, check (in windows) if your c:\temp contains all the files from the dvd (which includes the data2.cab.
Put the i6comp file in this same directory.
In windows go to start --> run and type in command.
You should see a black screen that looks like a DOS interface.
 type
cd c:\temp (if that does indeed hold all the files).

 Then run the
 i6comp d data2.cab 90 datav_fr.dat
 command.
 should work

If you get a message saying it can't find the data2.cab you are not in the correct directory.
