I can understand that. If you already sank a couple hundred turns into a game I'd much rather finish it (even in a buggy state) than having to start from scratch with a patch that does not fix all the major problems (and might introduce who knows what else).

Someone said this was their game of the year. So maybe we should wait until that year.

I'd actually love to read Epsilon's opinion on all the fuss.
Since he really seems to like it. Just want to hear the other side. All I read most of the time is people bitching about it Very Happy

Oh dearz. So what's Brad been doing for the last couple of years? Hahahahhah

Epsilon: Game is great btw, I love it, so far it's a definite goty. It's remarkable how much has changed since the beta, stardock have been working their asses off, and it shows.

I think the game is very good even in the current state. But Elemental could (will) be amazing without all the bugs and performance problems.

That's the awesome thing with Stardock.
Even if they deliver a product that... lacks in certain areas they don't abandon it.
It's not like other companies that release game buggy as fuck and you never see a sinlge patch.
Stardock is commited to their games, even if they release them in a shitty state Very Happy
And that's something I appreciate.
I have no doubt that, in time, they'll fix most if not all poblems people have with the game.

Again, Demigod was not developed by Stardock.
If you take a look at Galactic Civilisations 2 at the other hand (which was developed by Stardock themselves) you'll see that I'm actually right Cool Face

Stardock has made all sorts of promises about Demigod. But nothing spectacular has happened, just trickles here and there.

Eh I'm a big fan of Stardock but even I refuse to even look at anything based on DOTA. What crap. My hate comes from how popular DOTA used to be at a local lan, then slowly people realised it was terrible and people could barely get teams together. Every now and then you'd hear "Does anyone want to play DOTA in the comp" over the microphone to which I'd think to myself NO, no one fucking gives a shit DROP IT ALREADY.

Sigh.

Elemental is in bad shape yes but Stardock can easily support something they've internally developed over something they haven't. Give it a few months at least there are some critical things they are working on fixing right now for instance. Read the linked post above.

Also MP. God damn I want that now.

Gamersgate and Sprocket handle things rather nicely with a separate download utility, still it has to be installed afterwards compared to Steam and Impulse which download the proper files directly, pricing for some reason (Avoiding retailer competition and other issues along with higher profits?) continues to still be higher than normal stores most of the time though.

True, Impulse and EA Store are pretty good for conversion rates and pricing, Gamersgate is a bit in the middle (Difference between .co.uk and .com aren't that much most of the time.) and Steam does that annoying Euro to USD thing so it ends up somewhat expensive though not for all regions.
(There are ways around it but I don't want to risk anything, gifting is supposedly fine though.)

Demigod was developed by Gas Powered Games (Dungeon Siege, Supreme Commander), not Stardock. Wink
