Yea got a little carried away with the respect thing ...
Just find it funny that someone still using the " oh you gotta learn how to show me respect " line on the interweb .
I dont like GTA way too much either , but it's more fun. and what do you mean " nothing more " , people actually said this game is amazing based on the atmosphere , have they not ? you have nothing to do in the game .
Random people just have to say " ignore him " wtf with that who the fuck are you lol ... like walking down the street and having an argument with some1 and some random idiot passing along says " ignore him " ...
Im not trolling i wish to understand what this game has going for it beside the atmosphere.
im discussing , it IS what you should be doing in here instead of throwing punch lines like an idiot trying to get " RESPECTZ " ... ok im done with the respect thing lol

I'm curious, what does everyone find so fantastic about the graphics? I'm talking about IQ here, not about atmosphere or details.
It lacks AA, there's a fair amount of low textures, quite a bit of clipping, terrible lip-syncing..
Don't get me wrong, I'm definitely enjoying the game, but to call it a graphical masterpiece? No, most certainly not. The atmosphere is good, and there's a lot of little details, but it's not as if it looks as good as Crysis, FC2, CoP. That's also why it runs so well on lower end systems of course, and I personally really don't mind it

It does manage rather OK visually though as you say textures are a bit low-res and due to the lighting method AA works via a sort of blur shader implementation and overall the game also does use heavy blur, motion blur and depth of field though I find the visual quite good aside from up-close (Faces and such for example are rather bad.) animations could improve a bit as well especially for lip-syncing but it's not all too bad plus it runs great and looks decent enough
Nice amount of detail as well and shadows are pretty nice though a bit low-res.

So what about the cracks? Gamefix has the Skidrow proper and the V3 crack. Do both of them work 100%?

Saves?? Why cant I save the game?!?!? I played up to 4% (over an hour) and still cant save it. Cmon guys - I had to leave my pc on last night because of this. I am not too impressed with lack of saving so far.

I think the v3 is a modified demo exe. Don't use it. Use Skidrow.
As for the gfx, the faces bother me and when he looks at that chick right at the beginning of the game when he's back from war she's all boxy.
The gun combat's pretty good IMO. They could use some blind fire just to make enemies take cover (I think they don't have this, dunno played through 4 missions and it was late), but then blind fire is usually OP since the games are made for console controllers with their shitty dead zones and if you actually use a mouse to aim you can just headshot fucking everyone without coming out of cover (gta4 was bad about this).

Where are you in the game? It autosaves for you after most things you do. When the mafia II icon in the top right spins around it's saving for you. When you go to sleep, when you read a playboy, at various intervals during missions, it saves for you.

I am in the Car driving Joey. I already broke into the car (lock pick), got car fixed, then drove to some junkyard and talked to some guy. I just left the junkyard and driving somewhere.
So you think it saved already? I hit QUIT and it says "all progress will be lost". Is there a way I can view if it saved or not?

Epic game. I don't know why there are so many complaints about the ending, i think it's pretty much conclusive.
btw, as nobody got up and said it, i will: Mafia 2 > GTAIV. Just as Mafia 1 > GTASA > GTA3> GTAVC.

Pretty good game.
Loved the attention to the small details when you are indoors.
The action gameplay is great and the mission are well designed.
But I must say that it isn't on the same level as Mafia 1. And it isn't the nostalgic factor speaking... The story and character involvement is somewhat missing. Specially if you compare it with the first game.
And while the missions are pretty good, it could have a few more epic missions.

I did the biker gang one and then my hard drive went all /wrists on me. Is it worth getting again for TBOGT? I see references to drug wars and such, I did want something to to in the game after the story lines were over.
Mafia I was great for its day but now standards are all higher and Mafia II makes some of the same mistakes that MI did and gets panned for them. All I gotta say is they better have a free roam dlc or something. They'd prolly make decent money putting out an expansion that lets you grab territory, kinda like the godfather games (except, of course, not done as shittily as the godfather games). |
I hated that biker shit. The bike controls are crap in GTA so I never finished it. TBOGT was awesome though
