Trying the skidrow release to make sure they didn't fuck up (talking about Team17, not skidrow), if they didn't I'm definetly gonna buy it, 2d worms is back!

What are you talking about, when they did their 3D games people cried for "back to roots" because it was too difficult for them to think in 3D!
|
As a long time worms afficionado, I can assure you the issue many people have with 3d worms is the exact OPPOSITE! The 3d terrain makes the gameplay much more simplistic and less tactical: it makes the ninja rope almost useless for one (since it's a pain in the ass to use) togheter with a lot of other "tactical tools" (girders, pneumatic drill, ecc), but most of all, since every map is basically an island, nobody tries to think of clever ways to deal the most damage each turn, everyone just tries to throw the opponent's worms in the nearest water, making the game much less fun imho.

+1 , 3D worms was just no fun. I was incredibly happy to see it in oldschool 2D on xbox live arcade, bought Worms 1 and 2 there, just to support 2D. And now I bought it on steam again, just because I love Worms so much.

Worms is a great and fun game. I just wished they had the resources to make a real upgrade, like proper destructible environments together with real physics, maintaining the 2d view but upgrading it to 3d (giving it a Little Big Planet look for example). You know bring it to 2010, and just not rehashing the same old bitmaps.

but not to support inovation
worms is cool, but i won't pay 15€ for that, i still have my old worms2, reloaded doesn't look much different from that one
did team17 ever did something else than use old success to make money?
yes, at least some current gen physic, just some raggdoll could make it look more like a present game

As much as I love Worms, I have to agree with Mussolinka. This game didn't feel any different (other than a bit polished graphically and with a few new soundbanks) from Worms Armageddon or any of that time.
It's a good idea for casual gamers who weren't there when those Worms iterations were in stores, but it's the same game, and there's no reason to replace Armageddon on my netbook with this one.
By the by, I totally agree that the Worms 2D recipe was a great one and one that shouldn't be messed with, but Worms: Reloaded seems to have no other point to its existence other than introducing the new generation of gamers to it.
If they just re-released Worms: Armageddon as a Special 2010 Edition with the new soundbanks and in a low price, it'd be all the same.

Managed to play online with a few friends + Skidrow rlz... Just remove Steamclient.dll from the game, change the steam id from that txt file to 18800 and then installed Zero Gear from a cracked Steam (credits goes to that russian cs site)... Then I run the game and I can invite friends and see games from people that use this trick.
But I can't see games from people who bought it.... Although I'm wondering if somebody who bought it can invite me, but I doubt it since Steam thinks it's Zero Gear and not WOrms... ANyway better than nothing cuz I only play Worms with my friends

I don't see a lan option anywhere, I think it's only local (same pc) or online.
The game is quite good, but why the hell did they change the ninja rope phisics? Now it doesn't bounce as it used to, it's almost impossible to do the usual "tricks" with it....

The fucking ninja rope was exploited/overpowered. You could knock 2-3 worms in water or in a bad place.
Have you ever played Worms in MP ?

I still play it in MP!. And there's a mod or patch to disable rope knocking if I remember correctly (but maybe I'm wrong, I can't remember frankly).
I was not talking about that tho, I was talking about using the rope to move around the scenery.... moves that were previously quite standard are now almost impossible, due to the fact that the trick of bouncing off a wall with the rope to be propelled in the other direction, thus easily climbing obstacles, is much harder to pull of.... I don't know maybe I'm just not that good with this new version, but the new rope is just frustrating to me.
