if you look at the map that people get with the retail version, you'll see a home icon on the far west of the map that isn't used by vito. i wonder what it is for? i went there in-game, and it's a very shitty neighborhood with black gang members. there's a garage and door that stand out.

The detail in this game is simply amazing. Everything fits, the world is alive. VA, music, cutscenes, it's all top notch. I also can't believe the engine gives such graphics combined with great performance. I never bother walking in games, this one has me walking now and then just to see the city. Sure it's all scripted, but it's scripted in such a way you don't really notice. This might be the first time I actually felt like I was walking in a real city when playing a game.
A lot of detail will be missed when you go from point A to B over and over again while running. This is storytelling in a game at its finest. I don't care that there are no petty sidequests, I don't care that I can't buy houses or cars all over the city. I'm a mobster, I don't need to do all that petty shit. Sure this game might not last for weeks, but it's a brilliant experience. I for one missed such a game. I was never a gamer who liked meaningless tasks, useless "buy shit" moments or crazy tasks in games. Too bad the current generation seems to prefer meaningless fun instead of a great experience.

Someone said that the PS3 DLC gives info on what happens after the ending of Mafia 2.
Can someone post the story of that DLC in spoiler tags?

This game has the best winter atmosphere ever.
The music, the sounds, the visuals.
(Max Payne uses winter as a plot device more than a season.)

Negatives review? There's only one from an nearly unknown site. The only wining people had until now is about the cracks.

Huh? Eurogamer gave it 4/10, which is just a damn shitty review. They want the game to be a GTA4 clone set in the 50s.
Dumb-shit reviewers who haven't played the first game.

I would HIGHLY recommend replaying with the crackfix skidrow release, I think using a modified demo exe is a bad move, although i didn't notice anything while playing, now that Ive tried the retail release theres a huge difference. The car damage for example is better with the proper exe, and I'm sure there will be more small things the demo exe didnt have in it.

I would like to use Skidrows crack, but I read it doesn't work with your old saves? I'm using V3 crack now and I dont want to start over again....solution?

IGN gives it a 7, it's not a unknown site. It has an average of 76% on Gamerankings which maybe isnt low, but it's hardly comparable to GTA IV (which has 97% there)...

If they don't they get blacklisted by that company. i think 8 is about right.

Beat the game on hard last night, loved it, glad I bought it.

its not possible to use your old saves, though I just realised that skipping all the cutscenes got me to chapter 5 in about 15 mins.

Anyway, the first game also got a 4/10 from Eurogamer.
Must be some kind of inside joke.

Winter looks great in the game specialy the handling of the cars.
But tbh winter is also just a plot device in Mafia 2.
dont want to spoil it for people who havent played so i put the reason why i think this in tags:
Spoiler: | The entire start is in winter. Then you go to jail and when you get out its 6 years later and summer.
Tbh the only real diffrence between before and after jail is the cars and music. To make the before and after diffrence bigger they covered the before world in snow and a dark/heavy winter and the after world is bright and sunny.
This is done to make the diffrence of before and after bigger without actualy having to change alot of the buildings/area (remove buildings add new ones) |

If an 8 is right then gamerankings shows a proper score (76% is close enough), i think GTA IV deserves a 9.5 at least, again also a correct score going by GameRankings % (imo).
I'm pretty sure this whole "it got a good review because they were payed" or blacklisted etc is BS. It's something that people always will, and have, used when they don't agree though.
