I was thinking that as well, obviously reminds me of Greg Hastings paintball by Craptivision Value as well, which was surprisingly pretty decent - had alot of nice options, tournaments and you could cheat by wiping the paint off your character. 1st person view was from the protective helmet which was very restrictive but a nice touch, very authentic.
The screens for this look nice, looks like they went the other route in terms of level design and instead of going strictly for authentic they added some levels which look more like something out of unreal tournament i.e the levels with the pyramids and the industrial looking levels.
Thanks for pointing out the demo/game im gonna give it a shot later on. 
edit......slightly disappointed in this now Ive had the chance to try it out, the actual game engine is merely acceptable runs reallly well on maxed out settings/res but its hardly the source engine so should scream along on my test rig, sounds became annoying after only a few minutes due to the constant shouting of the players everytime they take someone down. I dont speak german but would imagine they are shouting something along the lines of "I just kicked your ass/you suck" etc this feature can no doubt be turned off, again though im not german so didnt get as far as that.
Most disappointing of all is the actual gameplay with a paintball game I expected there to be some sort of skill required in aiming the balls with gravity/wind direction playing a part, use of cover/leaning/tactics ala greg hastings but its more a case of placing the pointer over a player and clicking.
I'd go as far as to say the only real ties it has to paintball is the noise the guns make and the puff of paint left when you hit something, other than that it could be any generic multiplayer team deathmatch FPS game - might be fun with a bunch of mates but in a market thats oversaturated with good deathmatch style games and free mods very hard to recommend on the strength of this demo
