Been playing all night since it released on steam. The game is simply amazing. I cannot remember another game in recent memory that delivered such a good single player campaign. The story, the characters, the missions, the dialog, the music everything is perfect. The game is delivering amazingly well on everything I wanted it to. Mafia was never about freeroaming GTA style. What it does is a fantastic storyline.

it gets boring pretty fast...believe me!

all you do is drive to point A, get mission details, drive/run to point B, kill everything that moves, return to point B or drive/run to point C, get money, return home, sleep....repeat that for the next 12 - 13h and you have finished the game....fantastic!

this is not enough nowadays, it may have worked for the first game...but today??

BUT.......its entertaining!!

And thats the only thing that matters!

I hate the dumbed down shit that comes out nowadays, this game has the feel and everything that mafia (the best game evvaaar) had and plus more stuff, I dont want anything more.

It's highly amusing that, each time a hyped title comes out, people start questioning the scene.
As if it took them mere seconds to crack, repack, whatever a game.
And of course teh scene is dead because they have not yet released Mafia 2!
What else could it be!?
Just take a look at the nfo section of the site and tell me Skidrow and Reloaded are dead.

Geez guys. Go ahead, switch the pc off, take a nap, a wank, drink some coffee or something...

Whoever's cracking it they're probably playing the game as they're hackin'. UBI DRM request/response might have started a trend and since this one has custom triggers they'll probably try and avoid proper.proper.proper. Smile

Most of the current cracks I'd guess are also somewhat based on the demo, of course with the game out that build can be used instead now, it's been updated twice already though.
(From the pre-load exe to the retail exe and a smaller update a short while ago to just the exe file, pre-load to release data differs in a few other areas but it seems to be minor stuff from a few small comparisons I've done and the game is apparently fully playable from start to end with that v.3 modified exe which fixes a problem under chapter 7 from what I've read.)

The release date was midnight between the 23rd to the 24th so that's why, EU official date is on the 27th but it's still possible to play the game by forcing Steam to install it which now works as the files are unlocked. Smile

This. Bought the Collector's Edition and don't regret it one bit. Love the driving on slick roads, the lighting (sun glare and ambient light is simply amazing). The gun play is far improved over the first one, as is the storyline thus far.

I played through the original about a week ago and it was much rougher around the edges than I remembered. Give credit where credit is due, but this is one hell of a fucking shining sequel that more or less improves on the original in every way.

9/10 for me.

I still have to wonder why it took this long though - what did they end up doing for 6 years after the original?

Didn't say they were boring. Just obscenely long.
The overall MGS story is (imo) pretty cool but some cutscenes are just "why are you telling me this?... again?" Very Happy

Am I actually the only person who enjoys MGS storyline? (well, most of it that is).

Haha, well. Joke or not, MGS is famous for its boring cutscenes Laughing
Cutscenes are not boring in Mafia 2, but it's a GAME, not a movie Sad

You are boring not those cutscenes Very Happy

In Chapter 8 it will crash again when you need to follow a car, it does save at that point.
