sure... or just some ftp daemon or dash with ftp support etc.

For now you could just connect the internal hdd to your pc and transfer via sata... is there any prog that support the ps3's partitions `?

From the scarce info I can find, it seems to be ext2/3 with some proprietary encryption or at least header lock generated at format time using system specific details (so you don't transfer your HDD to another PS3).
So best guess would be to have the homebrew access it using the PS3 I/O API, if that is available (and considering the method of hack, best guess is "yes").

The makers of PSJailbreak are charging so high a price because the window of opportunity in terms of exclusivity and the longevity of the hack itself is potentially very small.

I have to admit that sounds about right.

The other problem I see here is the PS3 firmware, the latest games need the latest firmware installed so the games will run, any other lower firmware you have installed and the game will prompt you to install the latest firmware as the game wont run without it, how will this hack get around that when the game trys to find and see if the latest firmware is installed.

I spose its like all new technology if you want the latest things on the day of release or thereabouts you pay a premium. This applies to LCD's, 3D TV, Blue Ray, New Mobiles etc etc

As Ive said before 92 GBP is approx 2.5 games at full retail price so its well worth the money IMO

It comes down to how badly and quickly you want it and obviously if you have the funds

Well that has more to do with the uploader than the size of the game. 33 hours so far, and yet he's only uploaded 2.7 gigs or so. I could upload that in less than an hour and many others could do it much much faster than that so the amnount of time that it's taken this guy is really irrelevent.

Personally, I'll have no worries about downloading 40GB or larger games. It's better than having to go into the shops and hand over money for them. And it'll be quicker too!

And I on the other hand hope Sony fixes the exploit and it all goes down the drain ;]

People work to create games so if one doesn't have money for them, one shouldn't play.

And why not?

We're only alowed to write about how good piracy is around here?

It's my opinion and I can state it... I read nforce because there are lots of clever people here, not because I download games... I didn't even know that it changed into somekind of a piracy discussion board only, has it?

My sample will be here on Wednesday apparently. Can't wait to try it out Smile

I wonder if the backup manager will see games that you dump on the HDD yourself, or if the games need to be ripped with the backup manager in order for them to show up.

I think they need to be dumped using backup manager..though im not sure if its clear yet what the backup manager actually does. Otherwise you could use the available isos and just extract them...but i read that this does not work. Only copies made with backup manager work. Would be nice to see new rips or some app that converts existing isos into working rips

they say its possible:

http://translate.google.com/translate?u=http://www.elotrolado.net/hilo_review-ps-jailbreak_1473364&sl=es&tl=en&hl=&ie=UTF-8

3 The backups created on a console can run on any other console (if you can run Backup Manager application).
