There isn't though there's various levels of items but they all max out to the same basic stats though so called rare armor is more of a prestige thing.
(Really hard to acquire but same defense as high level normal armor.)
(Of course some weapon appearances are very hard to acquire like the recent Kryta ones or similar but it's mostly about the different skills you'll be using and how to assign them and your basic stats together for a good character.)
I walked trough about half the campaign without much of a problem (Hit level 15 in starting area, 20 being max, 30 being max for enemies.) but it's starting to get really challenging now that enemies constantly outclass you and there's a lot of them with all sorts of class combinations and elite skills available.
(Only just started acquiring heroes from the other campaign areas which really helps compared to henchmen, doing things mostly solo until I've gotten better items.)
Guildwars combat mechanics and skill system are very complex once you get past PvE and random PvP. But even though it's complex you won't need billion of buttons to play the game. That's the beauty of guildwars, it's something of a mix of MMO and some multiplayer game (fps) where you basically have only WSAD and mouse. In guildwars you are mostly fine with 1-8 buttons, WSAD and a mouse. Very easy to learn, use and remember but challenging to master
(especially with the pace of combat that's in GuildWars - no other MMO I played had so fast skills. Interrupting mesmer/ranger were one of my favirites in first guildwars, and my primary class was monk in guild battles. Yeah good times, no other healing class was as much fun as monk in GW. Active protection s great invention in MMO genre instead of boring "click to heal" especially combined with the fast paced combat - for example against good spike damage teams - and I had such a good time playing GW like in no other MMO.
So I'd say GW is suited for consoles quite well, as the game mechanics are quite complex, but fortunately not at the expense of being demanding on using many buttons to play.
The only MMO suited for consoles is the FF series since those are slow as all hell. As long as the idiots have their own servers but if it's shared I won't bother.
I have so much faith in ArenaNet. These guys used to work for blizzard and really captured the same work ethic from there. The same "not done until it's done" attitude makes great games.
Oh wow they blocked my ncsoft account along with all ncsoft games tied to it. And it looks like im not alone.. Of course, last time i played the game i saw a message saying they closed ~ 4000 accounts. I wonder how many of them were actually legit users. Idiofdsajkljlksdj!

This looks amazing i have to say, at least the artwork (that city and its garden was mind blowing!), the combat looks really engaging as well (not something you see often). Even the UI looked great graphically. Can't wait
