i loved those 3 day long AVs.. calling airstrikes.. summoning the ice lord etc.. it sucks now.. "OMG THIS IS LASTING MORE THAN 10MINUTES WHAT THE HELL"

If you want a short bg.. go play one of the others imho.

Anyways.. arena separates the men from the boys in terms of pvp.. and i would say 99% of wow players have never touched arena..

If you worry about gear making a difference in pvp i suggest not playing MMO's.

Well i dont play MMO's anymore, grinding weeks for gear isnt for me, and when i tried to pvp some in my crappy blue gear vs everyone else in epicz sets, i didnt stand a chance. But i get your point, it wasnt the gear it was me.

Not much but Blizzard won a lawsuit against a company using private servers, mostly I guess it's due to them profiting from it by selling in-game extras for real money though the fee is a rather astounding 88 million whereas their profits were something like just above 3 million.

Obviously it's just a deterrent meant to scare other would-be profiters of private servers away; doubt they expect to see even a fraction of that money.

I enjoyed those long AVs as well, it was the only battleground that actually felt like a war rather than a little competition.

In a similar vein, I also tremendously miss the older, lengthy and complex instances, with BRD being the prime example. Some of them actually managed to make you feel you went to a well-functioning hostile place you weren't supposed to be, rather than a linear lootrun where all the mobs just stand around waiting for you.

I've never tried arena, I just got into this game (again) because my wife wouldn't shut up about it. She missed it, her friends were playing it again, but I hated most of the players.

I have 2 characters at 80 now, both fresh 80s, and I hate myself for it. I do enjoy PvP more than anything else, but this game is such a gear treadmill that I have to "earn" (mindless grind) my way into good gear in order to not get 2-shot. Fine, whatever, I'm a man, I'll deal with it.

But my battlegroup happens to have a ridiculous population ratio, especially in PvP. Wintergrasp is laughable. 15 of us vs 120 of them, every time. We lose, of course. Tenacity is a joke since CC owns you regardless of the 18 or 20 stacks of the buff.

BGs are about as bad. Typically outnumbered (though not always), but wins are rare at 80. Was about 50/50 while I was leveling, hit 80 and BAM, win once a weekend.

PvE is mind-numbing. A linear lootrun attached to a ludicrous gear-chase is all the game is. I really hate most people that play it, wish my wife didn't have so many damn RL friends on this server so I could escape without pissing off half the women in town. At least I've always got a spot in the ICC runs -- if only I cared, which I don't. Worst part is they all want me to have fun in the game, but they won't run BGs with me because they "aren't any good at PvP" -- whatever that means. Gear = skill in this game anyway, and most of them have a GS at around 6k. And full PvP sets they got via PvE (emblems).

TL;DR: I whine about hating the game and playing it anyway. RAGE.

Edit: Oh, and I DO miss the old level 60 AVs that lasted days. Now I hear they are making AV a smaller BG in Cata, like 25 vs 25. WTF happened to "war" -- it's little bands of retards racing to the general and avoiding all PvP at all costs to get their points. Ignore all the cool shit in AV, the other mobs you could summon, the epic fights on the bridge ... just race and end it in 5 minutes.

meh scape pretty much got what they deserved i hatred them after the lead coder of Ascent/Antrix (WoWD) joined them and started making exclusive update on their server first instead of putting it up on the public SVN, i dint care for the donation it was obvlious it was a waste for anyone to buy full geared max level character for 200-500 bucks that it would eventualy get shut down like it just happen, i do feel bad for whoever spend their money with them.

Oh yea pre-TBC AV were so fun on Official "Warsong" if you where grouped with "Our Turn or Your Turn" and couple of other guilds, they would take turn in losing and winning in AV with horde guilds using IRC but imo the best memorable PVP ever was pre-battleground in Hillsbrand loved to pvp in that place but so much lag lol

dungeon finder makes no sense imo its just ruined instances , people jump in want to only kill the last boss where possible and then leave....

erm people you are using the dungeon finder for exp surely?

the random dungeon reward is pathetic..... achievement is pointless and the loot is shit...

look at maruadon blizard split it up into 3 zones lol everyone leaves when you kill the boss that finishes the random dungeon..

theres a centaur boss in the middle that people will never kill anymore and the turn in for the scepter quest which orginally allowed you to skip the other parts of the dungeon.

BRD is split into sections by dungeon finder aswell.

i expect stratholme is split into scarlet/undead, how many people even know of postmaster malown? he was rare enough for a group to spawn him as it was back in classic

Haha, prepare to be Malowned. Also, back in those days doing a full Stratholme or Scholomance run took quite some doing, and needed a well-balanced group. That Barov Peasant Caller you got for completing the Scholomance questline was by rights something you could display with pride. But yeah, it seems now all the instances are changing for the worse, all for the sake of streamlining.

I have to say though, the dungeon finder system isn't perfect, but has some good points. I really enjoy being able to run some instances even if I play a midlevel alt at 4am and no one I know is online. Of course a lot of the time you run into morons, but every now and then you get a good group that actually wants to do the dungeon properly instead of just getting boosted through it. Places like Gnomeregan, Uldaman, Maraudon, BRD etc with a decent group in the proper range is a lot of fun.

Seems people are doing "alternative" role playing on certain servers which has forced Blizzard to take various actions like this one.

... haha, oh my.

They're going to be patrolling the local general chat channels for sexy-talk. Poor elves are gonna get banned for dancing naked on top of the mailbox in Goldshire now?

Meanwhile, I continue to get 10 whispers a week telling me I should buy gold. And this is an amazing figure when you take into account that I only play 2 hours a day during the week (at most). That actually irritates me as much as playing the game in the first place.

Fucking WoW.

Yep, bunch of fat guys rounding up in Goldshire, whilst having their toons dancing half-naked and hoping that one of the guys maybe... MAYBE it's a girl.

http://www.wow-europe.com/cataclysm/features/azshara.html

nice to see blizzard finally make these barren, barely used zones be of some use (seriously, how many people ever went to azshara ? The only time i went there, was because a part of the hunter quests happen there and the only reward was some bow i think which was usually useless by time you been there lol).

On another note, last week i got my account hacked (again), first time while was playing tho (last time it got hacked i didnt play, my account was sold with my chars etc), this time, whoever hacked (or whatever lol) my account, managed to , in less than 5 minutes before blizz locked the account !, to sell everything that can be sold AND to add insult to injury, delete ALL my chars ^^. And cheers to blizz, they redid my whole account 1 day later, a SUNDAY, all chars back and all (and i mean ALL) items mailed to me, including a couple thousand gold i had. This is absolutly volunteerly done and they have no obligation.

Anyway, hate wow, blizzard etc, their support is just awesome (oh and they also made me change my email, pw, question etc to prevent this in the future haha).

oh and pss : after +- 3 years off and on wow, i finally switched to horde and omg, the pvp is so much better, believe it or not, horde side actually works together, even in random bg's etc.

Thank satan for cross faction sending of heirlooms and transfering gold via neutral AH "g"

big update coming to prepare WoW for Cata (this or next week, depending how bug free it is, i guess) already 3 parts rdy for download via Blizzard Download manager (usually launches after you quit playing WoW), atm at 5.18 GB

3.3.x to 4.0.x

some changes :

Classes: General
* Many class talents, spells, and abilities have been overhauled, added, or removed.
* All spell and ability tooltips will now display damage averages rather than minimum and maximum damage potential. This feature is on by default but can be changed via the Display settings under User Interface options.
* Ammo has been removed from the game.
* The character levels at which classes gain new spells and abilities have changed.
* Many item and class stats have been changed or removed.
* Rage has been normalized.
* Spells and abilities no longer have multiple ranks and now scale with character level.
* Talent trees have been altered. All player talent specializations have been reset, allowing for free re-specialization.
- Each specialization has been reduced to a 31-point talent tree.
- Players will now get a total of 41 talent points to spend.
- Players will be asked to choose a specialization at level 10. Doing so will result in the unlocking of a spell or ability unique to that specialization, as well as one or more passive bonuses.
- Once a talent specialization has been chosen, players may only place points in the primary tree until at least 31 points have been spent there.
- The initial announcement regarding these talent tree changes can be found on our Cataclysm forum: http://forums.worldofwarcraft.com/thread.html?topicId=25626290449&sid=1

Death Knights
* A dedicated tanking tree (Blood) has been implemented.
* The effects of Blood Presence and Frost Presence have been exchanged.
* The way in which runes recharge has changed.

Druids
* A new Eclipse mechanic has been added for druids.

Hunters
* Five pets can now be stored with the hunter at all times. Any one of these five pets can be summoned via the Call Pet ability.
* Focus has replaced mana as a new resource.
* Hunters now start with a pet at level 1.
* The Stable will now store 20 pets. If a pet is moved into the Stable, its talents are wiped.

Mages
* There is now a new spell fly-out UI feature for mage portals. Clicking on the Teleport or Portal buttons will expand the list of choices available.

Paladins
* Paladins now have a new resource bar.

Warlocks
* There is now a new spell fly-out UI feature for warlock pets. Clicking on this single button will open up the list of available pets to summon.
* Soul Shards have been removed from the game as items. Instead, they now exist as a resource system necessary for using, or altering the mechanics of certain spells.

Items
* Resilience no longer reduces the chance a player will be critically hit by an opponent.
* Durability: cloth, leather, and mail now have as many points of durability as plate, making the repair cost on death much closer to equal for all classes.

Professions
* The glyph system has been updated to now feature three different types of glyphs. Many class glyphs have been added, altered, or moved to different glyph types.

User Interface
* Spell Alerts have been added to notify players when procs on select spells and abilities occur. A visual notification will display around the character and the activated ability will be highlighted on the action bar.
* The Arena Teams pane has been improved.
* The Character pane has been redesigned. Character stats can now be shown or hidden via the Show All Details/Hide All Details button on the bottom left. When shown, all character stats will be visible in a window to the right of the pane. Stat sections can be reorganized by clicking and dragging them up or down the pane.
* The Professions panes now have more filtering and search functionality, as well as buttons to easily link recipes in the chat frame.
* A Professions screen has been added to the Spellbook to better display the details of a character’s primary and secondary professions.
* Many of the yellow System Messages that would display in the chat frame when leveling up have been removed.
* New text animations now alert players as they level up, also providing information on when new talents, spells and abilities are available.
* Professions and Class Trainers windows have been altered to more clearly display available and upcoming purchases.
* New Raid frames are now. They can also be used in place of the standard 5-player party interface via the User Interface options.
* The Spellbook interface has been improved for greater ease-of-use and visual appeal.
* For additional notes on Lua and XML changes please visit the UI & Macros Forum: http://forums.worldofwarcraft.com/board.html?sid=1&forumId=11114
