its like this...you re-buy a game that you own to play it on a new os ...lets say its Gorky17 and you buy it from GOG just to see your wacked your dollar on a non-working in hardware mode same version... more like a custom rip this time  but what if a custom fan made patch that could enable you the Hardware mode was made on some forum for free hmmm [even on the original on new os WIN7 or Vista you can play only in software mode]
its like all GOG games are a SHAM
another fine examples of gog con mastery :
Phanasmagoria 1 and 2... original game crashes on Vista/win7 on Disk 5 , Gog custom rip version [they even used the German DVD customised menu fan made patch to make it a windows rip http://blog.coaster.de/modules/PDdownloads/viewcat.php?op=&cid=5 ] SAME FUCKING CRASH ON THE DRAGON STATUE LULZ, but oh wait after people bitched they where shamed they added a DOSBOX re-release to make you run the DOS mode version of this game [both games have on the original disks a dos and a win mode os exe]that has 16collor videos [windows version in 256colors] ,but only in the DOS mode you can go beyond the disk 5 error

re-sell old abaddonware with dosbox + make a custom self-made rip = profit 
oh yeah fooo sure they have the access to the source code of those games LULZ
ps. Windows version 256 colours
Dos version 16 colours
and thats a HUGE FUCKING DIFFERENCE

But I think I see what you're getting at.
Is it just with those two games or is that more a general thing with gog? Never bought something there before. |

i own Gorky17 but on today's PCs this game doesn't work in Hardware mode (3d acceleration), its how graphic drivers and cards now work they cut off old DX graphic functions to make gfx cards more faster(see MGS 1 and MGS 2 PC versions that will not run on new GFX cards, you have to patch the game to use new directx+graphic drivers to make this game run on new OS/gfx )...
so i though they patched the game to use Dx10/9c and added new graphic drivers compatibility that will enable me to re-play this golden oldie finally on my new pc in Hardware 3d acceleration mode... but no, they didn't fixed nothing, they only custom ripped the game from the original cd and added a short cut that uses Windows Compatibility mode in Win95 setting and forced this game to play only in SOFTWARE MODE
oh wow and i PAID FOR IT FUCK ME HARD
same with older games , they just add dosbox + game + instruction how to run this game ... sorry i can get this game from any abandonware site , download dosbox and run it for free
and most of they re-released games uses fan made patches that where/are FREE enabling older games to be played on VISTA/win7 , that are masked in they installer
that's why i bitched about it... they only started this site to fight against used old games market ... and to make games runnable on new OSes [that in reality is a con]

hahaah I saw the offer in my inbox the other day and I was tempted, but I thougth fuck that I will have to fart about (I dont run windows)
