Could somebody explain to me the difference between the Blaster 360 and a mod chip? I am aware that it doesn't require any soldering and that you can flash firmware with it without constantly having to open your 360. Does it let you play backups though, or do you still require a mod chip for that function?

Well, i wouldn't know since i have never modded a console before. Hence my question. So mod chips are a thing of the past then?

Once you've flashed the firmware, that lets you load backups -- so no modchip needed.

Do any of you own it? I hear that it has compatibility issues with certain drives.

nope, don't see the point since it's not that hard to open the case anyways.
