Yes they are.
This game in many ways is what I hoped they'd do with ME2, specifically the planets / vehicles / space etc.

erh, any way to increase the drawing distance?
and what does the patch fix? i'm playing without it because those perk bugs sound like it might come from mismatching patched game with unpatched crack.
is there a way to jump higher? the starting spaceport is full of stuff on crates that you just cannot quite jump on...

Does anyone know what the "deceit" function is for, and how it is used? Sometimes when I'm shooting at enemies an icon pops up and says "deceit" (press F1) but I can't figure that one out.

It let's you try and convince the enemy that you're a friend, so that he'll accept you and not shoot. It's handy if you need to access an area controlled by a faction you've pissed off, without having to spend money on fixing the bad relations.

OK.. thanks sabin. That explains why whenever I pressed F1 it would give the message I'm still enemies (Haha.. guess I should stop shooting while I'm trying to convince!). I'm assuming that upping my charisma might make this a little more successful as well.

This is quite frankly a flawless game in just about every respect.
Mouse sensitivity being based on framerate is really irritating but wow.
Just got up into space had absolutely no clue what was going on.. was just trying to ransack traders and starships passing by. Blowing up subsystems is pretty epic. Wasn't really expecting much out of the space segment but it seems pretty fleshed out too.
Only bugs encountered in 10 hours of play: the ati thing (more or less totally fixed with patch- looks like they forgot to update the headlight shader) and a civilian vehicle went into a lamppost. it blew up eventually. I think there were a few other minor things but I don't remember em. (all of my perk upgrades seem to work)
Pros:
RPG + FPS + Vehicles + Space + Planets + Factions!
Technically proficient graphics
Various ways to solve quests and stacks of em
Pretty solid difficulty (right from the start) but not particularly frustrating
Limited fuel/Weapon wear/Upgrades/Replacing burst tires; vehicles can be refueled and fuel lasts a solid amount of time (1hr of cruising?)
Erm.. the game doesn't end when you take off into space? (seems massive)
Cons:
I guess no one owned an ATI card.. (it's fine with community patch)
Mouse sensitivity tied to frame rate is very irritating.
Flying vehicle blows up 5 seconds after you touch anything and using the camera to fly it is less than efficient. (the buggy is really nice however)
I would say the translation sucks but it's sufficient.
How does a random russian group get the resources to put something like this together?
Too bad it'll probably never see a real english release, it seems like a winner.
If you skipped this, you missed out.

I guess you've not played any prior Deep Shadows games? Boiling Point, while technically flawed, was absolutely sublime to play --- if you had the rig to cope with the INSANE lack of optimisation. You pretty much had the entire Realian valley to explore (625 km2) with zero loading screens or "transition" screens. Tons of RPG aspects, countless missions and - for the time - gorgeous visuals.
Boiling Point 2 (Xenus 2) is much the same and also has the same English translation from Wesp5 that he did for Precursors.

Nah I didn't because the theme wasn't very interesting, that and everyone was whining about the bugs. Might look up BP2 if I can ever find the time, I'll probably never complete this as it is!

Yeah, a NoCD is required - and it works on the 1.1 release too =)

anyone with a different mirror to the 1.1 Precursors translation (the file is no longer available on filefront: "HTTP Error 404 - File or directory not found")..
Too bad there isnt a crack for 1.1, that patch seems to fix the horrible mouse controlls;
"In the Options menu control "option is added to the" Disable acceleration mouse".
you can use it with the 1.0 crack but obviously you won't get all bug fixes (maybe not any, the above added fix is not there for example)..
The game seems great so far except for the mouse controlls, i really like the graphics, good attention to detail etc. This game but with the budget of a Blizzard game = mindblowing stuff.

The team appears to use patches-scrolls for hosting (Tried checking the official forums regarding the translation project but found no other sources.) the Filefront mirror acts up a bit now and then and they even mention it on their site, primary host they use is only visible to German ISP users due to some problems so Filefront is secondary and can take a while to verify and "activate" the download.
(Though that usually gives something else than a 404 message.)

The file is still gone, now you don't even get an error but are redirected to http://news.filefront.com/
After completing a few missions i'm not that impressed tbh. I like the different planets, variation is very nice, i liked the design/graphics. The controlls however is totally ruining this game for me, i can't believe how they can fuck up something that imporant so completely?? The missions are quite generic too.
The Perks are strange. I choose 1 perk and the next time i level up it's still there? I havent found a way how to see which perks i already have either.
Seems to me that it plays like a less polished Borderlands but instead of 1 theme (desert) it's much more varied, but again, horrible controlls, game breaking bad I tried a lot of different settings in the .ini file that has to do with the controls and frames that it renders ahead, v-sync, FPS smoothing, etc, didn't help.

After many months(3) of gameplay i have to say that this game is a masterpiece.Controls, mouse movement and fps are perfect here. This is what ME should've been.
