I tried with PhysX APEX off and on medium and I didn't find any noticeable differences except crappier frame rates.

Damn, the details are amazing in this game. I robbed a shop, drove around, and when I came back to the shop there was police tape all over the place ("crime scene, do not enter"). Love it!

I can't start the game!I use win7 and when I started the game it wanted to install a psyhx driver and i installed it.then when I a launch the game it shows me an error that the game exe has encountered an error!How to make the ga running?

Can't you choose in steam in which folder you want store the game? Is the steam folder the only way?

Just played a bit. The graphics are very good. That 60's mood is all there, with the music, customs, cars, beautiful interiors and exteriors. Very well designed environment.
The driving is bad even in simulation mode. The animations are not very well made. They feel incomplete (i think after rockstar's euphoria everything looks shit). Cover system, health regeneration, lack of water interaction and shooting are all disappointing. Also seen a lot of AI bugs.
Let's just hope for a great story i guess.

Hybrid-PhysX-mod-1.04ff doesn't support Mafia2 demo's PhysX
I've tried the demo, the demo can't run with 9.10.0223 PhysX drv, it will install the 9.10.0512 PhysX drv, so my 9800gt doesn't do PhysX job with my 5870, hope Hybrid-PhysX-mod will support 9.10.0512 soon.

Is it just me or does screen brightness go way down when you exit game to windows? Only solution is log off/restart. If this will happen in full game I'll probably choose console version.

Ok, is it just me or have the voices been cut from the cutscenes, or is my audio fucked up?
Other than that game has been running smooth, gonna try with physx next.

Happens to me as well. No need to log off, just use the Ctrl+Alt+Del screen and cancel if you are using Vista/W7. Hopefully it's a temporary thing.
Also, just tried the benchmark with medium PhysX with no Nvidia card present (5870 here), all else maxed out with 1080p and AA on I got around 25 FPS on average. Seems pretty close to what people with Nvidia cards are getting. So what's the deal with that? PhysX on High gets pretty slow: 10-15 FPS...

This game keeps getting better and better. 
Robbed a store, returned to it after a short while, and two policemen were talking to the lady behind the counter. I walked into the store I just robbed. A short dialog ensued:
P: Somebody called the police?
L: Yes, it was terrible.
P: Could you describe the person who did it?
L: I didn't even have time to look at him... But wait a minute... He looks similar... Oh my God, that's the one!
And the policemen tried to arrest me.
Oh, I also love the fact, that unlike GTA IV, different shop stores offer different range/colors of clothes. In the demo they're all the same in 2 shops, but are offered in different colors. Check it out!
And the brightness thing never happened to me.

Whaaaaa-? You do know that the driving is pretty accurate of that of the 50s era? Just like first Mafia was.
I'm driving on Simulation driving mode and it's very like the first Mafia. The arcade one feels like GTA IV, only with slower and heavier cars.
But hey, to each his own, right?

Ok so I just finished the demo. Performance is good, I'd say. All on high, no AA/APEX, 45-50fps all the way through, only stuttered once when there were tons of smoke effects on screen (ie; shooting the concrete pillars and leaving a cloud of dust in the air) and even then it never dropped below 35fps. My machine is a piece of shit any way, so I'm just "glad" it worked well enough to be called playable.
Visual wise, it sure as shit ain't no GTA4, but it's purdy enough for the G.Whores amongst us .... except for AA. HOLY JAGGED POLYGONS, BATMAN! This game is in SERIOUS fucking need of *real* AA, because distance lines are sharp enough to cut your eyes clean out. I tried with the ingame AA enabled and there was practically NO visual changes whatsoever, but a pretty meaty performance drop from 50fps to 30s... ridiculously unacceptable.
As for the game itself? Cars handle like boats, so fuck the driving in this game, but the gunplay and story? Sounds pretty good so far, I liked what I saw and I'll definitely pirate the full game when it comes out. As for buying it? No chance. I didn't enjoy the first Mafia enough to buy it and the same goes for this. The demo/mission timer is absolutely ridiculous too... over WAY too quickly.

I didn't have any AA problems at all. Sure you're not playing in 640x480?
Also, game looks better than GTA4 tbh.
