Well continuing on from previous thread im getting a new hd tommorow, would it be possible for me to connect this old one to my laptop and backup all my mp3's/ps2 games? i dont want to lose them!!!!!

Hmm I think U need a ATA controller with a USB connector... Though Don't know if that even exists :S

i assume it's an ide drive, in this case you need an external usb/1394 drive case to put your hd in and then connect this to your notebook

sounds like its going to cost more than its worth and probably better to buy a new hd then install xp and plug this old one in as a seconadary storage device and hopefully be able to access it and burn my stuff off it

Is it a laptop HDD? Then it most likely is a 2.5 and then to connect to a standard IDE port youll have to get an adapter.

you can purchase the adapter for less than 5.00 at CompUSA for connecting a laptop HD to a standard connector in a PC. Or for 19.95 you can purchase from them an external usb case and put your old hd in and then transfer what you need.
