Hello,
I have old IBM Thinkpad and it's time for me to buy new laptop. I would like to buy another Thinkpad but since it's under Lenovo brand, I am kind of hesitant. Has anyone tried a Lenovo laptop? What are your thoughts and experiences?

Got one from work but I don't like it. Could be due to the lack of power and the business software crap that is running on it (more than 70-80 processes at any given time -_-)
The extras are nice though. It's pretty solid, there is a light which you can activate so that you can use the keyboard even in the dark. As mentioned before the keyboard is quite good and there is the trackpoint which I think is pretty awesome and each notebook should have one.
Plus contrary to my old work-lenovo/ibm-thinkpad, this one stays quite cool while being quite

Used to have a Thinkpad T42, by far the best laptop I've ever used. Solid as a rock, high quality components inside. Comes at a premium though, but definitely worth it

What? I had the T42P (the one with the FireGL, 2.2GHz) and it felt... not half as good as my T60
Though some guys at work have a T410 which seems to be pretty good.

Yeah I wouldn't worry about the build quality really. Anything IBM (Lenovo = IBM for consumers) makes is absolutely rocksolid.

Well actually lenovo is a chinese company that bought up the consumer electronics branch from IBM. Lenovo is not a part of IBM and as independent developer you can't say that lenovo does has IBM quality. (And even I am not sure what exactly IBM quality is )

One more question. How how frequently does a company come out with a newer model laptop. I am looking at the Y560 model. I don't want to buy it now only to find the Y660 will be released two months from now.

Most companies have new revisions every couple of months or so, but it's usually very minor shit like going from 320GB to 500GB HDD or similarly from 3GB to 4GB RAM
