Wasn't it posted in here earlier? Load up the map in the editor, and you can play it against the AI.

I've not tested this myself.

the way i remember it, world of warcraft release was exactly the same. it was a mix of other mmorpgs, there was nothing that hadnt been done before. but that seems to be the way blizzard works these days: they take their IP, apply it to a derivative mix of other good games of the genre, they polish it to hell and back, then release it.

You can skirmish on Battle.net, unless of course you're talking about the pirated copy Razz

These days? They always worked like this, since Warcraft I.

Warcraft was supposed to be a Warhammer RTS. They made the engine, based on Dune II concept, though permiting to control four units at the same time and different resource gathering.

The moment that they started caring more about polishing was with the second version of Starcraft. They shown the first build on E3 and they were crushed by the critics there. They took it very personal to the point of depression, until the main programmer rebuild the entire game by himself.

What the hell are you blabbering about, Boundle? "Almost works for the singleplayer campaign"? It works PERFECTLY for the SP campaign. The only things the crack doesn't work for, yet, is Skirmish and MP. Don't you ever get bored of being a laughing stock? :\

Don't worry, the SKIDROW guys will fix all the remaining issues. They're the best out there when it comes to fix, repack and bring us games in a perfectly playable form. Not to mention that they were the first to fully bypass the tough Ubi DRM, thanks to their gorgeous skills achieved after decadeses of experience and success.

Played 2 missions and got tierd of it.. Serious..
Is there any point to continue, beacuse like many other have said by now.
Its just SC1 with better grapichs, and SC1 sucked imo.

Dont see anything special at all in this game. Sad

Judging a game after 2 missions is a bit harsh. Im 6-7 missions in and i love it. Its the old SC vibe. Great cutscenes, characters, its polished and the story seems to be picking up nicely now. It wanted to please the hardcore SC1 crowd and it accomplished that, imho.

Sometimes innovation isnt King and old game mechanics can be embraced to make a shiny new package.

And dont expect to suddenly love it, if you hated SC1.

Nicely said. The fact is that I'm happy the game stayed true to the original. I mean how often do we get a new release after 10 years that is even remotely like the original? Gonna look forward to all the hypocrites who will complain about deus ex / X-Com despite adapting to modern trends Razz

I just realized why some people had issues with installing reloaded version.

Instructions say you need to copy update to install dir and then run the bat. But the problem here is that uncracked Blizzard Updater.exe won't be able to patch the game. For this to work, you need to crack Blizzard Updater.exe, then do update, and then crack all other files.

BTW I havent found any skirmish maps in my install dir (I think they are downloaded from Bnet) and if my theory is correct, if those people would share their downloaded maps we could open them through the editor and play them skirmish Smile

Actually the maps are there. It was easy to test, just download replays and they play just fine.

Now question for those who have bought the game. Can you play skirmish while not having internet connection?

yes, when the game runs in offline mode (on the main profile or one of the 3 guest profiles), everything singleplayer related works 100%, this inculdes ofc vs AI play. so rld is just talking nonsense when they write that skirmish play per se would be an online bnet mode, which it is not. (so it's not one of the "supported" offline modes by their crack)
My guess is that you guys are just missing the right cache files so that you can choose the maps in the vs AI menu. How to fix that? for now buy the game, or wait for someone to figure out if the cache files work as easy as they did in the beta (you could just copy them from another client, also for example to watch replays offline, if you didnt have the map initially).
for the impatient ones: the SC2allin1 loader has worked already since release day also for the retail version! (with some little manual tweaking, registry and base folder renaming, etc), dunno if it has been officially updated already for retail, I used it couple minutes after installing on release night, to test out if the retail works for AI play, too (I mean not much has changed since the last version of the beta). the launcher was used to play vs AI offline (in all configurations, teams etc) for the guys who didn't have a beta account, I used it a lot in the early days of the beta, when I didn't have my beta account yet. (with custom written AIs) You can use it with the last beta map pack also for the retail base version btw. It does nothing else than taking an empty map and placing the players and AI inside, setting teams, difficulty etc, i.e. just creating a temp map, which is then launched with SC2.
So if you can't choose the maps ingame for now, you can always do that instead to play skirmish.
