I just finished it, it was great. Puzzles were pretty balanced, was stuck a bit once or twice, but good old thinking cap helped. I just feel bad it's over, but there's nothing like playing a good old adventure every now and then, love the puzzle part, and the atmosphere was great in the dig.

Dialog was not that good, and characters could have been a bit rounder, but hell, the score was awesome!

Did you play the dig?

The beginning was the best part of the game for me, didn't like the puzzles, the ending was kind of corny, still a great game, imo doesn't come close to games like Full Throttle or Grim Fandango, two gems of the 90's.

I think you need a patch for Grim as you can't complete the puzzle in the elevator with modern cpu's because they are too fast, still the game should start.

http://www.scummvm.org/downloads/#extras

Both Beneath a steel sky and Flight of the amazon queen are free to download on the scummvm site if you wanna get started right away in a legal manner.

dont forget to set the default music to "MIDI", there is a MT32 emulator but it doesnt sound that good unless its a game that uses the default MT32 instruments like the first monkey island game.

Did you know that a great remake of Quest for Glory 2 was released last year? Wink

They also remade King's Quest 1 & 2 Smile

And some other guys remade King's quest 3 and are currently remaking Space Quest 2, soon to be released.

The patch mentioned in the following link should fix the game on modern pc's (haven't tried it yet though)

http://www.grimfandango.net/?page=requirements

Also, some guys (part of the ScummVM crew I think) are working on a app that will make Grim Fandango run perfectly on modern systems.

Dig was really nice.
You should try also Day of Tentacle, besides the other all above mentioned.

I dont know since when, but the game is available on steam. (Maybe it has to do with personal suggestions...)

Personally I would not buy the game anymore since the money isnt going to the guys who made the game in the first place anyway and its not going to help devlopement of more of these types of games.

I'd just use Scummvm and download the game on the bay.

Anyhow it is a fantastic classic just like all the other LucasArts adventure games. In the light of all the crap we have to sift through nowadays, this game really shines, despite all the little flaws it might have.

"Enlightenment is man's emergence from his self-imposed nonage. Nonage is the inability to use one's own understanding without another's guidance. This nonage is self-imposed if its cause lies not in lack of understanding but in indecision and lack of courage to use one's own mind without another's guidance. Dare to know! (Sapere aude.) "Have the courage to use your own understanding," is therefore the motto of the enlightenment."

I think i may have played and finished The Dig 3 times in all. One of my favorite space adventure games of all times. Only the Space Quest series beats it for me.
