|
 |
Although he's been in three films with varying degrees of artistic and commercial failure, the question on a lot of fans' minds is whether The Punisher will ever return to the screen again.
That's what one fan asked Marvel Studios honcho Kevin Feige during a Q&A session at the studio's Hall H presentation today at San Diego Comic-Con. Feige reiterated that The Punisher was now back in the Marvel fold (he appeared in the studio's Punisher: War Zone) and that fans haven't seen the last of a live-action Frank Castle just yet. But whether that means on the big screen or perhaps as a TV series was left unsaid.
Later during a roundtable interview for Thor, Feige addressed the larger issue of Marvel character cross-overs on the big screen. "They've done it in the comics occasionally so you never know. We'd like to do an alliance between other Marvel characters behind other doors," he said.
But added, "We'll see. It's always a pleasant surprise when it happens but there's lots of legal, contractual red tape. They will be few and far between. Awhile."

Thought I might post this as Im a huge Punisher fan and it would really really be a delight to see Garth Ennis' version on the big screen, instead of the other 3 shitty films.

creepy... i just watched the jane one a couple hours ago, and was thinking about the franchise as a whole...
and i disagree, the last one was fucking awesome, but i heard it was utterly sabotaged in its release, which is a pity because it was so damn enjoyable for an action movie. i hope they dont reboot it AGAIN... just make a sequel to war zone

Titus Pullo (whatshisname) nailed the role, it's just that the movie itself wasn't all that it could've been. Hope he gets another chance.

Take note that I have read over a hundred Punisher issues and to see how they treated Warzone - they butchered the plot and connected characters which had no relation to one another. You guys should go read Punisher v3,v4 and v5 which was what established the more modern and gritty Frank Castle, a must read! Although how they are going to make a true Punisher film with Marvels new no-R-rating policy is yet to be seen,
for an example -

you know, sometimes things get merged for the sake of creating a stronger narrative in the space that they have. i know you know this, but its important to remember that comics arent movies and movies arent comics - they are two seperate mediums that cant just be directly translated to each other.
sacrifices flat out need to be made a lot of the time - the only thing that should really matter is if the spirit of the characters remain the same, and that the journey hits all the main important concepts and gets to the right place - it shouldnt matter what exact route it takes...
dont get me wrong, i can appreciate a hardcore fan being pissed because something isnt a literal translation of something they love, but from an outsiders viewpoint, the movie was suitably gritty, stylish, action packed, fast paced, well made, and immensely enjoyable.... and im sure if it had been called 'the ass-kicker: war zone', instead of the punisher, youd have enjoyed the fuck out of it too.

Thomas Jane with the decent story of the first Punisher movie and the action of Warzone, will be fucking nice!
Fuck Ray Stevenson btw, Thomas Jane, did it much better.

The last one was retarded. The one before, with Thomas Jane was much much better. If only it was without Traderpa - would have been hell of a lot better.

The story and pacing were, IMO, much better - and Jane was infinitely better than the nobody who played Punisher in the 2nd film (so much of a nobody that I can't even remember his name!) The only thing #2 did better was the classic Punisher OTT gore.

Heh that one was terrible.
I don't get why a lot of people prefer Jane - he doesn't even look the part and the movie wasn't particularly good either. | it was Dolf the man... and i like his movies

only mongers liked the travolta flick. the 2008 version is where it's at. far superior to anything that came before it.

I would definitely get my ass to the cinema to watch another Thomas Jane Punisher.
