SPOILER ALERT
I was a bit intimidated after reading your post about aliens. The next mission I took "Lost Convoy" was my first encounter with the aliens. This is the mission where you have to find a USS convoy and find out what happened to them. No sooner did I find the convoy did several alien wings appear on my radar. There were a total of about 12-15 alien fighters and gunships heading for the convoy. After reading your post, I was sure I was going to have to reload my game and choose a different mission. But I decided to play it through and see what would happen. Well, with careful management of my pilots special skills, and only a single use of astra's luck ability I was able to take down the alien fighters one by one. It took 1-2 volleys of fire from my guys to take down one ship, but because I had divine protection from Astra, my ships didn't take much damage. After Astra's luck ability faded, there were only about 8 alien ships left and I was able to finish off the battle using only 1 shield recharge (phantom) and no other skills. Of course at the beginning of the fight I used a lot of skills, almost 1 of each. But this allowed me to quickly take down the aliens, and we all know a dead ship is one that's not shooting at you, so this gave me a huge advantage. My mothership ended up with about 40% armor, and a couple of my ships had minor armor damage but none got shot down. The 2nd wave of aliens came shortly after, about 9 fighters/gunships and this time I didn't even activate any skills. Just did my usual mop-up. I'm very frugal about using my skills because I like to save them for those "oh-shit" situations, so I often go through entire missions w/o using any skills/missiles. If you're having so much trouble with the aliens, I recommend not playing on hard the first time through. Start up a new game on normal difficulty. The aliens were definitely much more powerful than my normal human opponents, but this only makes the aliens moderately difficult because the humans are pathetically easy.

Could it be that there's a bug in the "Golden Key" mission which makes it impossible to continue and thus finish the game?
The objective says that Phantom has to be in his laboratory on the Mothership to dismantle the energy source, but nothing happens when he's on board. I even took him out of his ship, but that didn't help either. Did anybody get past this point?
There is a 1.1 patch, but only for the french and the russian version. I doubt those work for the english one...

Yeah, I had the same problem. I saved and quit to try to find a workaround, and trying to find any info on the game at all was difficult, so I just loaded up and tried again. I went to the battery with Phantom on the mothership and this time it worked. *Shrug*

Guys, just make sure you send your mothership to the object (part of the gate) that is eminating the beam. I spent 2 hours trying to figure out wtf is wrong until I clicked by mistake on that part of the gate. It worked like a charm.

POSSIBLE SPOILERS
I just wish the game was longer. I was hoping to start upgrading to alien and then precursor ships/weapons. They let you capture a bunch of alien ships but you can't use them. They are kinda weak though, only 2 small guns for the fighters and 1 small gun and 2 missiles for the gunships. NO systems is a huge disadvantage, and explains why missiles are so effective against them. The shields and guns are simply awesome though, and explains why some people have trouble with them.
I wish I coulda gotten some of the precursor ships. Their weapons were really nice, but you only get to use them for that mission. But the ships were pretty tough themselves. I bet it was just like the alien ships with high shields and 2 big guns.

I am in GOLDEN KEY mission more accirate in the second part where you have to obtain an artifact STAR HAMMER. After sucessfull quest "Invasigate energy sources" and "find the power supply" there is one more called "extract the power supply". Phantom says that he has to go to laboratory on mothership to extract some battery or so. I order him do dock at mothership but nothing happens. NOTHING!
I don't now what to do!
PLEASE HELP! Is it a BUG?

Well, I don't know if it's important, but I had Phantom on the mothership, and not in his ship when I solved that objective. I flew to one of the upper energy sources (either left or right one) and, with the mothership selected, I simply clicked on one of the four parts that has a light beam. It's not enough to fly there via the map, because that will send you to the center of the portal thing. So leave the map and click on the beam parts.
Eventually, two batteries will float in space and your mothership will suck 'em in, and when that's done, Phantom tells you that he extracted the energy source.
Save before you try it though. If it doesn't work, reload and try again. Or if it really won't work, try restarting the whole mission.
