It's a sweet game. Loving it so far. Shako Demon Jester is so damn good. + It's free I still can't believe it. HoN has fugly character skins and is basically a shameless copy of dota. And I am tired of dota.

How is it "free"? That is a gimmick. You are going to put in 100s perhaps 1000s of hours to unlock all the champions and runes you need. Don't tell me runes don't make a difference. During Beta at once point we were all give virtually unlimited runes and they make a huge difference.

Yeah... that´s a joke. That business model has been applied to other f2p games and ppl end up spending a lot of money. Take battefield heroes for instance, or softnyx games.

I purchased hon since it the preorder was available and as regards this game, i won´t spend a single penny. It no match for hon imo.

HoN is superior in every way and peaks over 30k players online. Meanwhile LoL's public chat rooms have around 20 people idling.

Cause I think they´re trying to scam user with that business model. They say it was going to be free when it was first announced and now it´s not.

I tried it but I just can't take the visuals. I definitely prefer heroes of newerth over league of legends, although LoL does have several features that I think are good ideas.

It's definitely a good thing that LoL is more accessible than Dota/HoN at least, and if I hadn't already spent quite some time familiarizing myself with dota/hon then I would have probably preferred LoL. No denies, no losing gold when you die, etc... goes a long way to give the less experienced players more of a fighting chance.

The first thing I noticed was that people didn't insult and kickvote each other all the fucking time like in heroes of newerth. make one mistake and everyone on your team will laugh at you and try to get rid of you and tell you how you ruin the game for everyone else.
in lol, the community seems to be much more noob friendly. probably mostly because HoN is still in beta and as such attracts the hardcore dota gamers who are mostly elitist jerks.

we'll see if a wide release of HoN will produce a more open community like it did in LoL...

Yes , i agree about the community. I started to play both betas. So i was totally unaware what i'm doing at first (even in second and third and... ) in both games - In HoN i was cursed from those so called hardcore kids.. every game.. while in Lol.. every fifth game Smile I liked the HoN graphics much much more than LoL, but i just could not bare all the elitism going there so it was a quick shift-del. In the end you are getting used to the Lol graphics. I like that there is a rpg based level system for your profile, you could buy runes, unlock champions with ingame points (tho the current system is retarded one easy to play and deadly hero costs 420 points, while a almost useless ones cost 6300) Also there are constantly added new heroes and there is also a new winter map (and some other outside the matchmaker) no ide how things are in HoN.. oh and also, HoN won't be f2p ?

edit: oh and about the above posts about the game being not free.. What's not free about it. o.O The only paid stuff are the extra skins and exp/ap boosts. Sure it will take ages to unlock every char.. but why.. you just pick several favorites and carry with them. Also there is weekly rotation system in which there are dozen free to use characters so you can test them all sooner or later.

once again real money are used in the game for:

-bundles - like digital edition in which you have all champions unlocked (so where is the sense of progression then...)

- additional pallets swaps a.k.a - skins

- IP & Exp boosts - reaching level 30 is not that hard and actually just winning gives you around 150 IP anyway

so please explain how the game forces you to pay to stay competitive Laughing

are there runes bought with real money giving you insane god powerz ?

or are there money only heroes who one shot everything else ?

or maybe.. even exclusive masteries trees increasing your damage by 100% just for 50$ ?

This game is one of the best free to play games that i've ever seen, where skills are what decide who wins, not who has more cash spent.

Also im surprised how much support the game has - Roughly 3 patch monthly to address issues and balance while also adding new content (even now the serves are offline to prepare for the new patch - and for the new hero). Other commercial game can only dream about this - yes i'm looking at you Dawn of War 2 with last patch from October..

So they've just released Season One right now with proper ranked games and so on. If you haven't played the game at all or for a few months it's a good time to do so now.

You have to be level 20+ to do ranked games but they've tuned up normal games so you don't go against premades if you queue alone.
