Judging from the reviews, sounds like a waste of time.
Epsilon: Game is great btw, I love it, so far it's a definite goty. It's remarkable how much has changed since the beta, stardock have been working their asses off, and it shows.
Is it somewhat comparable to Myst (which every modern reviewer would hate for sure)?
reviewers hate it , because its not a action drep adventure game but a puzzle game like Fool's Errand , The 11th Hour , 7th Guest , Clandestiny or like you mentioned the Myst series and myst like games (Reah , Shivers etc..) [i play a lot adventure/puzzle game so ] when you have to use your brain and use math skills etc...
so if you like a puzzle adventure game with no dialog tree and no item based puzzles but logical hard NONE DREP game with a good 5h long story (depends how long you need for each of those 50 puzzles this game has) then get it
This game reminds me a lot of the nds game "Professor Layton". You get puzzles from characters you meet and you get hints by finding gum (coins in Layton) in the scenes.

didn't play those , don't have a DS and this is the only worth having DS game that runs shitty on the no$emu

and yeah your right puzzles and the whole GUI is 1:1 the same like in Professor Layton

I love puzzles and graphic adventure games, so I think I'll like this one.
