omg. i played this game for like 15 min. it's so piss poorly made. Sad you can't build multiple buildings within one turn. you can only build one at a time. wtf? the graphic is so so. it looks rather primitive and simplistic. it's a sausage fest. you can't pick a female or any other race at the beginning of the game. it's hotdog or nothing.

this one will go way in the back log of games i'll end up forcing myself to beat when i'm extremely bored and have nothing to play. Smile

right now, smg1/smg2 on dolphin or gow1/gow2 on pcsx2 are keeping me quite busy and entertained. Smile

you never played this kinda games ? Building 1 building each turn etc is NORMAL.

Im in act 3 now and im quite enjoying it. I like the guardians, which prevent that anything and anyone can simply conquer your buildings w/o effort etc. Lots of nice little things.

Nothing wrong with graphics either. ...

I lol´d Mr. Green it´s quite obvious he never played tbs before.

Gfx for this kind of game are fine, but tbh... 2d in disciples 2 were so much better than this, all the artworks and animations were simply fantastic.

The problem with d3 is innovation. Apart from the addition of rpg elements to the hero, there´s not much going on really.

The portrait when choosing a campaign or similar, looks like a portrait of a squire at easy, knight at normal and sort of a magical infused knight at hard, the arrows that scroll between this difficult to see at first. Smile

Haven't played more than the tutorial and about halfway trough the first mission as humans. I have to say that so far I'm impressed, I mean all I've read from this game is how horrible it is and while it might not be completely like the previous games in the series it still seems like a fun game.
However what the fuck is up with the camera? Slowest camera ever and no way to up the speed. Surely there must be some way to fix it?

Oh and maybe it's just me doing something horribly wrong but the game hasn't been very easy for me so far on normal. I mean these elves have way more advanced units than i do and I haven't been able to upgrade any of my units yet, the only saving grace was that I were able to recruit a titan which has helped a lot but I still have difficulties beating the elves.

key is to conquer the guardian nodes and to use magic against them (in campaign mode), a single 250 damage hit will half their lives and make it way easy to beat them ^^

The level 4 human lighting spell does 2000 damage, pretty effective though it can only be used sparingly seeing the costs of it in mana resources.

Though from what I saw most spell "tiers" are the same spell but upgraded in power with one or two that differ out of five or so in total per "tier" with four tiers all in all.

(Probably different for different factions, having played "hotseat" with myself on that level where all three races are active the humans seems mostly melee oriented, demons mostly ranged and elves appear more about magic though each faction has two or so units for each type whether it's ranged, melee or magic plus different unique hero types who can use different sort of equipment.)

EDIT: Ah so it was true that they're working on a expansion with the undead.

I like what they are trying to do with the game.

They have a very nice eye for details in the "surroundings", pictures, heroes, movies etc.

But they seem to have been focusing to much on that and not the game-play.

The battles are no where near as fun as HoMM, no spells(?), also the units rarely have special abilities.

(also the 2x melee dmg spots are kinda annoying, couldn't they had made a hill or something so you got higher ground advantage...)

If the battles don't get more complex than they are at the middle of the first mission, i don't think i will play this very long. And i really want to like it Smile

The art director of this game should get a raise Smile The one resp for the combat should get fired Very Happy

I don't even wanna imagine how buggy the game was at release ( original russian release). I mean so far I've had my hero turn invisible and on reload completely disappear as well as having my castle become totally bugged out making it impossible to build anything.

Only played half an hour but so far I don't like it very much,
Skipped the tutorial because it was late and after stumbling about confused and wondering what they had done to this game I got murdered by an Elven Hunter Sad

edit

Played some more and got used to it, it is quite similar to the other games
The difficulty on normal on the 1st map is ridiculous, levelling up is very slow and some of the battles are near impossible for my team, I thought I had finished the level but "surprise" another ass reaming Sad

Any way to speed up the battle animations?

uuh yeah, it's on the options menu.

you can remove the action camera so it always stays in the normal view and increase speed for battle animations in 3 steps I think, and the default is the first, so you can make it really really fast.
I like the medium setting as the movement is much smoother and less annoying that way but it doesn't feel like it's running on fast forward too much.

You can´t lol...

You have to use them before the battle. You can use scrolls though.

Work seems to be focused more on the undead expansion coming out sometime in Q3 this year it appears (Russian version.) but there's a slightly newer 1.06.1 patch available.

http://www.playground.ru/files/33933/
http://www.disciples3.ru/DIIIpatch_1.06.1.exe

It's compatible with the English edition and even has a few English specific audio fixes but the EXE itself is unusable (Star-Force activation protection.) and the system\language.ini file is updated so needs to be set back from Russian to English (Or similar.) again for the localization to work. Smile
(Easiest is to install to say C:\Games\Disciples3\X\ and then copy everything aside from the exe and protect files over and then in the system folder edit language.ini back to English or similar.)

EDIT: (Via Google.)
Quote:

* In the stores and inventory, items of a type now consist of a single cell to display count of add-wa (wish 7).
* Fix № 2.57: sometimes a player, instead of his city, the city becomes available opponent.
* Fixed № 1.47: sometimes the enemies are placed on the wrong side of the arena.
* Fixed № 2.04: in runes "guardian angel" is not displayed price, and when you buy it, then it is worth 0 gold
* Fix № 1.02: In the campaign missions in the Russian version of the game neutral city often called "Neutral town".
* Fix № 1.46: in the description of skill "Change form" means that it operates 3 moves (although he should end the fight), but really he had acted only one move.
* Fix: in the city could add soldiers in his unit, bypassing the restrictions on the initiative and the overall quantity, simply by dragging icons of urban warriors against each other.
* Fix: sometimes the soldiers in the city are "out of the interface"
* The description of skill "Cannibalism" Fixed output of health.
* Always zero to become "critical" in describing the hero is replaced by the value of the critical damage (Wish 17)
* Fixed clipping of letters in the info-box'e arena
* Fixed a bug in the script on the third mission of the Legion, because of which the mission itself starts immediately after loading.
* Changed files: common to all sound localization (not requiring translation) moved to the folder Resources / Languages / English /
* Fixed output resistors in the interface of hiring soldiers
* Fixed: Background image in the transition to the choice of the campaign, at resolutions with aspect ratio of 16:10 is not stretched more than the whole screen.
* Repaired playing sounds FX'ov
* Added a plus sign to the increment of resources
* Fixed: quite often in the training of the cursor is in the form of arrows
* Removed unnecessary to achieve "Master Treasure
* Fixed job accomplishments.
* Fixed: in training could try to enter in another city does not belong to the player when the game fell.

In normal mode, does it get easier after the first level?

I start off with level 1 guys in my party on normal mode and the 3rd battle I get into is in a house that has 4 lvl9 zombies and im dead. So I restart and think to just save that horror house for later, run down the road and straight into battle against 4 lvl5 archers and some broad that destroys me. I guess its easy mode for me.

Easier?

It gets much harder actually as you still start with basic units (And often one knight instead of squire, Empire at the moment here but probably similar for the others.) have to rebuild everything (Of course.) and re-acquire all resources by capturing nodes, all of this while enemies get far tougher, higher level and overall stronger and more numerous over bigger levels and explorable areas.

As someone mentioned earlier spells are of great importance to weaken or even dispose certain units early on, tanking up and going slowly is also helpful, your hero keeps his level and stuff like equipment but he alone can't manage everything.

It's not very stable and crashes now and then but I'm on the fourth Empire map after a lot of trial and error (Out of seven per campaign, same as with Disciples 2 kinda though I've only played it very briefly.) and while you can take some areas (Like a gold mine.) the way from the castle is guarded by a large wolf (Those level 16 type enemies, white wolves being support at level 8 and other wolves being level 4.) and they always act first during combat plus other units like spearmen and thugs, and that's just the first fight to free up the air mana shrine.
(You have your hero, that other girl, one basic archer and one knight, some resources though for buying structures to improve them but that's earned trough combat for them to level up eventually so it's not easy though mages even at early ranks with their AoE attacks really help as does overview map support spells.)

EDIT: Didn't the Heroes 5 second expansion game also feature a crazy difficulty at times, while gameplay is different Disciples have borrowed a lot from HoMM and Disciples 3 goes a bit further still.
(Other games exist as well with similar concept like Kings Bounty and Etherlords but it's most similar to HoMM albeit I wouldn't say it directly copies it, that's to say it's more than a simple clone.)

EDIT: It does glitch at times though so that might be part of the problem, sometimes for example the AI takes a really long time to calculate and it ends with him clearing the entire map (Or so it feels.) and attacking me with a group of level 50 guys all in the first turn of the game.

It's easy to repeat even, I'll add a screen.

EDIT:

(Start of the map nearly, enemy encounter blocking the passage away from the map, my own forces being nothing compared to that yet, I do have some resources so given time I would have been able to use spells and weaken it enough.)

I was having a lot of trouble with the 1st Empire mission until I started using the runes and potions, the 1st level spell for 250 damage also helps a lot
I've not had as much trouble since the 1st mission but you learn which fights to avoid until later, I've not died since

At the beginning of a mission there is usually a tough mob guarding a nearby node, it's usually best to leave them until you have levelled your basic units once or twice

On the 5th mission now and it's a lot easier, halfway through the 4th my guy became nearly unstoppable against most mobs, only done a small corner so far but he could have cleared it by himself, my units are levelling so fast I can't get the upgrades built quick enough to keep up

There's a level cap of 5 per mission for your hero, make sure to max him every time
I like to clear the map so there's plenty of EXP

Remember to use the Skills tree, there's some good stuff in there, I'd recommend "Extra Attack" it's great when you get to move first

Always buy the "Static Effect" potions for your hero, they are permanent stat boosters, don't waste them on Inoel because her stats reset every mission Sad
Intellect potions are only useful for mages so don't waste your money

It can be worth taking a turn or two to go and get a stat boost or use a map spell twice

Be careful around the bonus squares, specifically the extra melee damage ones, the AI has no trouble using them against you if you move to the wrong place

Still lots of bugs

Not sure if this one is a bug but if you have "Extra Attack" enabled and are covering you get a second strike against the enemy, it's great
On the 4th mission the performance took a nosedive during loads and AI turns, I think it might be causing some of the bugs as they only became noticeable since the 4th misson
Sometimes the map spellbook is greyed out
On your hero's first move in battle his extra skills are missing sometimes
On the 4th map, the view town option started taking me to an enemy town, first the Elves for 5 turns then the Demons for a while, couldn't select my town but I could buy units for the enemy using my own money..., had to get to a neutral town and switch to my own from there, this sorted itself eventually

I'm having fun since I got used to it and increased the battle speed but it takes a loooong time to do a mission, Disciples 2 was the same

Im doing better in easy mode trying to find enjoyment in this game. The key is to get a titan in your group asap as you could say they are a bit overpowered, they are lvl19 when you and the rest of your group are like lvl 2 or lvl 3.

I would imagine the lvl33 trolls would absolutely own without a titan or 2 to battle against them and yes this is still on the 1st mission.

anyways thanks for the tips guys, im on to second mission now.
