Ubisoft games and their protections:
Settlers 4 - Safedisk 4
Splinter Cell - Safedisk
Prince of Persia 2 - Safedisk 4
Far Cry - Safedisk 4
IL-2 Sturmovik - Cdilla
Beyond Good and Evil - Tages
XIII - no protection

So it looks like the later games use Safedisk 4.

Time get starforce nightmare prepared then. Any more news on the resolution problem?
Not a doubt on that...damn. Time to fire it up...bleh I hate copy protection.

Only thing I've heard resolution-wise is it's locked at 1024x768, maybe a patch will change it. Most people I've heard from say it still looks amazing even on TFT moniters.

You edit an ini file but it doesn't matter...it's still locked.

Yep thats true, i hope i get my copy on monday.

My friend has a retail copy of SH3, and he says to it looking very good with him 19" TFT and the game runs 1024*768.
I have 19" TFT too and native is 1280*1024, we see how it looks, friend says marvelous.

I don't think that you can assume it's sf3 just from the product activation screen at 9teuflotille.de, usually you have to reboot your machine when installing a sf3 protected game because of the vitual device driver that is installed and he didn't mention that i think so my 2ct is it's not sf3 but let's all just wait and see.

Negative, that is based on preview version that is sent out to reviewers, magazines and press, usually those preview versions have extra protection, UBI havent used sf3 in retail releases at all to my recollection so why use it with retail sh3?

that's the point.
preview versions are nearly always protected with starforce 3 to prevent ealry release of games... it's not new to us.
ubi still uses safedic

I wanted it last week...too bad Ubi has been holding it their warehouses until this week. Miserable buggers. Full lanes is a very nice touch, you also have hitting a 'neutral' ship and you go renegade for 24hrs...you lose respect in the rest of the fleet as well for that.

Can't wait damn it!

I read the whole review, and i have to say the game sounds really good, especially the part with the storm which sounded really dramatic and interesting.
I can't wait to sit down with this game/sim and sink some ships.
