I wonder why...

Ok, I'll be nice and not bother commenting on "believable".
I do not like Stargate mainly because it lacks seriousness, it's got the "Xena"/"Hercules"-'hi-hi- we so funneh'-attitude over it all the time. It's too damn american to me. Sort of like 'Everything in the series has a bucket of slime all over it to make it shiny' - the relations between the characters are shallow, the story is shallow... even the dangers are shallow.
What's the point with the Guao'uld? If a handful of earthlings can defeat their entire empire, how is it that they could reach universal domination? Their 'quest for power'-niche is so cliché it's sad.
I liked how the series at first was 'Ho ho ho! America kicks evil aliens butt' as per usual, and then how it turned into 'let's try and be quasi-politically correct and involve our arch-enemy RUSSIA into this!' ... whereas Atlantis went all the way, and actually took a CANADIAN person into one of the main characters.
Yeah, I know you shouldn't think politically when you look at a series, but since there's no real story here, no real character interaction, and no real intrigue... what's left to discuss? ... Oh, Sam is hot by the way.
Yes, yes I'm back.
Somewhat.
