The referee has no influence on the game outcome? Yeah, they're incorruptible.
How can someone that supervises the game not influence the game?
Bar this game, I would've said that's football, but sorry, I don't slurp bullshit. He did in fact influence the direct outcome of this match and just check his wikipedia page (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jorge_Larrionda) which is filled with controversies and even a suspension. Sorry I don't feel satisfied after shallow victories.
Germany beat us fair and square. The fact that second goal was disallowed is irrelevant. We were out played the second half and we played crap the entire WC. Well done Germany Also, why so much hate towards the English?
Its because they are ALWAYS over rated.. in every sport they invented/every sport... the hype machine goes 100000% and its nice to watch it all come apart
They come to world cups etc thinking they are the best.. media thinking they are the best.. public thinking they are the best.. and they never are they utterly fail 99% of the time .. then that 1% when they do "WE ARE THE BEST, WE WILL ALWAYS BE THE BEST" etc.. and the cycle continues..
+ i find the insane foreign influx of players to their teams/comps a big factor which they dont see.. but thats a entire new thread.
I guess its... stupidly over paid players + stupidly over hyped players + stupidly over hyped media .. and then watching it all crumble is nice to watch
Happens ALLLL the time in Rugby with the six nations teams (well cept Italy.. cause they cant beat anyone and dont expect to.. and france.. since they just dont give a fuck and norm win it)
Same thing when England/Ireland tours to the southern hemisphere.. big hype machine comes with them.. "this is the year. nothing can stop us" .. then they get spanked every game every year.. someone blames the coach.. media blames the coach.. they get a new coach.. then the cycle happens again
The media in this country is definitely the main factor why our expectations are so high. The media in this country contribute massively to public opinion.
I guess sacking Eriksson didn't improve the British football performance. I think they were outmatched and were looking for some help. Losing four to one isn't exactly close, and what excuses are there for doing 1-1 to the U.S. and 0-0 to Algeria? Yay, England beat Slovenia that have pretty much never had any good football teams. Last world cup victory was what? 50 years ago? LOL.

If i was english i would be really pissed right now. I think the referee made a fatal decision with the second goal of England. Off course... the second half was bad bad with a 2-2 the match would be way different.
Besides... i saw the goal from Germany where the GK passed the ball long where a goal came out from a different angle and in my eyes that was clearly offside.
