The train fight was the only semi decent one. And it only resorted to shooting the huge glowing weak spots.

I realy hate it about You Sabin, that you either hate a game like it's responsible for giving birth to state of Alabama, or glorify it like it's a message from Jesus. Every time I read a post like this from you, I get a huge urge to slap something.

Just because I'm not part of the TrollHUMP brigade of "hating everything because it's kewl to hate, derp!" doesn't mean I'm as bipolar as you make out. Everyone and their grandmother is pitching epic QQ bawls because of the graphics, then whining about inconsequential stuff. I happen to disagree and I believe the game was incredible.

It's ok though, because while you get the urge to slap someone when you read my posts - I get the urge to slap you when I read yours.

Funny thing being is I didn't meant to offend you, it was just an observation which you obviously couldn't handle.

So anyway...the game was pretty cool. Besides the obvious downside of being a console title there are a few design flaws with gameplay dynamics and slow start, but overall a fun game. Raven didn't disappoint IMO.

Looks like sabin became delusional ...by liking this... failed 360 port mimicking 4 AAA games...with a half assed story presentation that fails to deliver (read UreKismet post to understand how it failed)... not mentioning the shitty porting job they did (stream errors, missing resolutions , 16:9 mode etc..)
talk about a train wreak ,no wonder Activision didn't advertise this

I have only just stared playing this game the telecommunications duopoly(twice as much fun/twice as oppressive as a monopoly)in the country I'm in has cut all d/l speeds back to 170KB. My first impressions like nearly everyone else's are of disappointment.
Bioshock 1 (2 was a heapa steaming IMO) engaged us because it managed to create a plausible alternative world. Same same with RPG's like Fallout. Metro for all it's flaws was credible enough to drag the player into the metro world, but this Singularity thing is a half assed attempt that fails because the designers were either too lazy or too ignorant to recreate a plausible 1950's Soviet Union.

Apart from the woeful attempts at cyrillic which have already been discussed, the attempts at Social Realist art don't cut it because they use the Social Realist form but communicate western capitalist concepts rather than 1950's soviet socialist memes.
The school is more like a 1950's amerikan school than a 1950's Soviet one.
But where the atmosphere really fails is the way it 'russianifies' 1950's amerikan paranoia rather than trying to emulate 1950's Soviet paranoia. I know that western media forms prefer 'the mirror' approach to conflict, where each side has the opposite views of each other. It simplifies issues so that distortion and myth replace accuracy and truth but using that simplistic technique just doesn't work in a game.
The most glaring example of this is when the movie in the school tries to explain the fear of amerika in nationalist terms. "They will invade Mother Russia" or some such tripe.
Nationalism was an anathema under Stalin. He had just spent a great deal of time, effort and millions of lives trying to build a socialist state that was what we would call 'multi-cultural', therefore using nationalism as lever into patriotism could only undermine that work.

A real soviet movie of the time would argue that amerikan aggression threatened socialism, not that it threatened 'Russia' or 'Georgia', or "Estonia" or any of the other satellites.
Yeah it is a small thing but it illustrates exactly why it is that most peeps aren't drawn into the singularity world, the lack of attention to detail mostly doesn't ring any 'thats bullshit' bells but it doesn't spark up the nostalgia synapses either.
Combine that with the graphics and audio failings, the continual nags about which key you should be pressing (handy if like me you will probably drop in and out of the game over several months but irritating if you can remember the controls), the rigidly enforced corridors, and the unoriginal plot to get a waste of money for anyone other than a particularly unaware 14 year old console player.

Wow. This post illustrates that this guy just takes games too seriously. The game is bad because it doesn't recreate Soviet Russia? I haven't played through the whole game yet, but come on. IT'S A GAME! And an FPS to boot, and I've seen there's a crazy soviet dictator, so yeah, it plays on stereotypes. You want things extremely serious, go read up Tarkovsky or something. This is a game that is supposed to be fun.

Just finished the game. And I have to take back my words. It's quite decent. What I took for clunky shooting mechanics was just fucking aim assist turned on. And the quiet sound issue - solution posted here worked.

Sound drivers might need to be updated.
(Often for integrated solutions like Realtek or SoundMax but cards like the Xonar and Creative models also need updates for a variety of issues.)

I was going to suggest checking what frequency and "bits" are used such as 16-bit 44100 or 24-bit 192000 but that's what I use myself and it's working.
(Several titles have had issues with needing to lower frequency to a max of 48000 though 24-bit is usually still OK to use, audible difference is probably minor and not really noticeable though.)

(Might be some obscure multi-channel bug as well, try 2.0 or so if using 5.1 or higher as a test.)

(Also don't let codecs intefere, I use k-lite myself but FFDShow and other side stuff that can hook to various audio and video formats are restricted to only run on whitelisted apps and will show a message when trying to hook to other things.)

I have a problem. Last time i got BSOD ( atikmdag.sys ) when i tab game to window mode ( ALT + TAB ). But in games all is ok i can play 24h without problems. I am worried very much about this BSOD. Last time i got him 3 days ago when i tab game to window mode ( ALT + TAB ). But when i am playing i can 24h without issues. Only when TAB. And its very rare.Maybe 1 time of 20 times , when i just tab ( ALT + TAB ) game to window mode i got atikmdag.sys stop responding , screen flickers black and then BSOD. Why i got and now its stopped? This problem occur very very rare, like i say.

Hey guys , in the sinking ship level , after you start exploring the ship , you notice a big metal sculpture of a head in a particularly russian style . It looks a little bit like http://www.rcgfrfi.easynet.co.uk/ww/lenin/lenin-37.jpg this version of Lenin's head except it's obviously metallic and kept together by bolts. Does anyone know if something resembling this exists in real life ? If so , links , pics , anything related plox ?

Fugazi that seems driver related, unsure if you overclock or if you have a ATI 5000 series card (Or both) in such cases where it's not due to problematic drivers (I use 10.6 with the June 23rd profile update though that's mostly for BC2 Crossfire improvements but this game works fine with it and alt-tabbing.) anyhow there's a little Powerplay bug in the ATI 5000 line of cards though some custom models have improved BIOS settings for this, what happens is that when in fullscreen 3D it'll use high clock speeds and voltage and when in 2D or Aero desktop it'll run at lower speeds and voltage, however the issue is that said voltage and speed is sometimes to low and the card either gets a WDDM recovery error or it might cause a BSOD.

Manually setting a Overdrive profile can help (ATI CCC Overdrive section.) can help, especially if overclocking and thus putting a larger strain on the card but it's been a problem since that card series launched.
(It's more or less fixed by now but some models, particularly Crossfire configs and multi-monitor users, have experienced a few issues still with it.)

(ATI raised the clock speeds and voltages of idle mode under 10.5 to help with this, if you already have a custom Overdrive profile delete it and redo it for the correct values to take effect.)

At least that's what it seems like but it might be something else, that driver file is ATI related however.

EDIT: Also this seems like another one of those heavily modified Unreal Engine builds as it's packed into those .xxx compressed files and thus accessing Coelsced.ini or similar is rather difficult aside from the few values that are in the registry as part of what options are set ingame.
(Has the most heavy LOD system I've seen as well, even worse than say Bioshock 1 of UE2.5 build.)

High.

Low.

(All I did was to move back a very short distance, annoying but the game itself is a rather fun action game though seems rather heavily influenced by Fear and Bioshock plus Raven's usual supernatural touch and heavy gore, heh.)

i just beaten this game yesterday. it took around 5 hours or so. the graphic was decent. playing at 2560x1600 with texture dropping out was very annoying to say the least. one moment you can read the graffiti on the wall the next you only see white blobs. Confused (amd phenom ii 1090t hexa-core cpu @3.2 ghz with ati 5850 2gb video card)

also, the audio for most of the cut scene and when other characters phone ya are muted. without the ability to enable subtitles, it was interesting to try to figure out some of the puzzles and what to do next. this game feels a lot like a bioshock knockoff/clone. it got perks and audio recordings like bioshock.

there is nothing to do after you finish the game as far as i can tell. there is no 'insanity' difficulty level that gets unlocked after beating it or anything special.

oh, well next up is sniper ghost warrior. Very Happy
