Not trying to be offensive or anything, so don't get me wrong...
UT, Unreal and Deus Ex have IMO the best music I've ever heard in a game. And not only because of Alexander Brandon, since tracks from Michiel van den Bos, Andrew Sega and Dan Gardopée are just as good.
The only OST from a videogame that came close to those was Mass Effect's. And I mean the original, not the crap music from the sequel. Sad

If you ask me, nothing came close, but Omikron.

That's because Omikron had a living GOD providing some of the soundtrack - as well as character basis - and that would be David Bowie! Well, and Reeves Gabrels.. but Bowie is far better.

Yeah, when people mentioned UT, this was the first track I looked up Smile

Stuck with me from the first time I heard it. No doubt in some part thanks to the almost iconic Deck 16... Made me reinstall UT on occasion as well. Unfortunately, for me, memories were better than the real thing, so I decided not to ruin them Smile

My absolute favourite track in UT;

... man, I miss playing UT! I remember back when it came out, playing it absolutely flawlessly on my P1-200 (OCed to 233) with 64MB of RAM and an ATi Rage Pro accelerated by a Voodoo1. This was my all-time favourite game and the first one that truly got my brother and I into online MP.

One the tracks it still can 'play' in my head after all these years (15 by now) is the main theme from Crusader - No Remorse.

Now that was some cool music and also by Andrew Sega and as I recall he also worked on UT.

Yup, Andrew Sega did some tracks there:

It think it was a the first epic MP experience for most of us. I know it was for me. Although, in my country, people were q3a fags, I was a UT man myself. TBH, I liked all UTs, but as things stand, we won't have another one for quite the time.

Pleasantly surprised here, Omikron is the best game no one played. Good to see some quality people here.

Wait, wait. WHAT?! Link please. This made my day, if it's true. I thought they dropped it completely. I will buy a ps3 just for that title.

When it comes to ME, I want to replay it every time I hear the Main Theme...

The soundtrack that stuck with me through the ages was for Rogue Spear though. It's somewhat cliched by today's standards, but it brings back some memories for me Smile

And now this thread has been completely derailed...

Last I checked, it was all blown off. This is really good news. That game was so ahead of its time. Outcast as well. People always forget about them. They were pretty open world as well, but the gta dickstroking is at unprecedented highs.

Thankfully it's not canned, just delayed for now while QD worked on Heavy Rain. I'm hoping more info starts coming this year.. because a proper next-gen Omikron would be magnificent beyond words, as long as it's not derp'ed down Sad That was what was so magical about Omikron, the "go anywhere, do anything" mentality. Sure the graphics were shitty, but hell -- look at the age Very Happy

Ah man, I need to find my CDs somewhere, and reinstall Omikron. Btw, I didn't like the ending so much, but the themes, the execution... It was the very first game, where I felt I actually lived in that world. New games have NOTHING on Omikron. It was as close to a living, breathing world as one could get. In 1999 of all times!

And no, I doubt they would dumb it down, truth be told, QD never sold short of their vision. They really have great games, all of which are original, daring and risky. Those silly frenchmen are my top studio. And I didn't even get to play Heavy Rain all that much, since only my mate has a ps3, I don't.

But for omikron 2, I will buy one, no doubt.

Ok.. question for Deus Ex - HR. We keep hearing that the game is based on four "pillars" of the game; Combat, Social, Stealth, Hacking. The devs say "You can go through the whole game without killing anyone" as if that's the great freedom... BUT!! Here's the kicker; can you go through the whole game without TALKING to someone? Go throughout the whole game without a single hacking or lockpicking event?

I actually bought a P1 MMX just to play that in full glory (had a regular P1 before it), bloody brilliant game. Was so bummed when the sequel got cancelled Sad
Open Outcast looks pretty good though, really need to install Crysis again at some point to give it a try.

I'm still not sure about this one though, need a proper dev walkthrough tbh Razz

And while we're on the topic of soundtracks:

Not everyone might like them, but the last one is a classic now, and the first one is a brilliant tune

Guess you guys could use some more reading, the more impressions the better, right? Razz

I gotta admit I'm starting to become cautiously optimistic about the game after reading PC gamer and various impressions from E3 but disappointments have teached me to not to get too hyped before I play the game myself or see a ton of continuous game play.

Cover keeps getting in the way. I really effing hope, I'm not forced to play from cover, like in ALL cover shooters, and can at least still go UT style on their asses.

Console Cover quickly became the most hated mechanic ever for me.
