The display name can be changed however, it's under.
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Video]

Along with all other ATI/NVIDIA specific settings.
(Don't change anything unless you know what you are doing, the value for the above is "Device Description" and no it's not how other programs detect the card so if you call it 5870 games won't try to force DX11 and such stuff, just the display name shown via CCC and some other programs.)

So he reckons he gets the same performance with a single drive, as you do with a RAID0 setup? I call bullshit on him.

Well the standard F3 has a theoretical 144MB/s read speed, so if you're running two of them in RAID0 - you should be getting considerably more than that. JB should be able to help you with that, since my working knowledge of RAID is limited Sad

Not that I'm a HDD expert though, I use a Samsung F1 1TB myself as the main drive and my older 1TB Hitachi as storage but only trough AHCI without RAID.
(Some improvements over standard IDE mode but they're not the fastest discs, F1 holds up reasonably well however aside from high-end disc drives and SSD of course.)

Some discs use a sort of power reduction mode and "green" energy saving functions with or without noise reduction (Accoustics cancellation or some such name.) , obviously this lowers the speed of the HDD so some utility or firmware upgrade might be required.
(SATA/SATA2 drivers as well such as the Intel Chipset Driver and any third party models, my own x38 Maximus Extreme uses normal ICH9 Intel for the internal discs and J-Micron for eSata functionality and though the ICH9 drivers are fairly stable it improved via Intels Matrix driver compared to the standard chipset driver and J-Micron releases new drivers nearly monthly with a variety of fixes.)

(Newer stuff like x48 and i-series CPU x58 to p45 and p55 would be using similar devices but updated to say ICH10 and now also SATA3 and USB3 stuff is coming out via third party chips whereas Intel themselves are planning to support it in 2011 sometime from what I've read.)

That's all I can think of for the moment, updating benchmark utilities like SiSoft can also help remove bugs and issues in some tests or detection algorithms. Smile
(Checking BIOS and device manager and verifying that everything is running correctly is also advised, my own motherboard had thirteen bios updates for a variety of fixes and enhancements and needed to be adjusted a bit in regards to FSB speed and memory timing, running at lower speed memory but better timings at 400 FSB at the moment and 3.2 Ghz, stable but it could probably be improved further with some tweaking though I haven't seen the need for it yet.)

To the best of my knowledge, you can't boot from a dynamic disk (not in Windows anyway) so that would be useless for a RAID0 OS setup.

@JBeckman
This is the drive that i bought

http://www.alternate.nl/html/product/Harddisks_3,5_inch_SATA/Samsung/HD103SJ/-1080138/?tn=HARDWARE&l1=Harddisks+/+SSD&l2=Serial-ATA&l3=3,5+inch

I update my bios whenever there is an update avaible (had to do it anyway to upgrade from phenom1 to phenom2 not long ago)

How can u help me with those drivers? What do i need to check/do before you could link me to the drivers that might help improve the performance of the disks?

@sabin1981
Yea i got it running as main OS so dynamic woudnt work then, but does it make any big diffrence then?
Because i got another disk in my system wich is the WD Velociraptor 10.000 rpm, but as single drive only. 160gb

Edit: Sisoft giving me a better result on the drive Neutral

Yeah, but five of the six available SPEs (the Cell has seven SPEs, but one is locked out for OS use only) are for rendering the graphics because of the piss-poor GeForce 7900-derivative GPU Laughing

It's a PS3 game.. Nothing to see in this game. They want to tap into the console market since WoW has the PC MMOs pretty much.

That's what it looks like at least.

Well, this is hardly the first time SE have released a console MMO. FFXI is still DISGUSTINGLY successful and that started life on the PS2 Wink

Yea indeed, but they do say on their closed beta site that the game is best played with a gamepad. Confused
