from neogaf;
Spoiler: | |
They already announced a remake of the original Persona (which I never played) for the PSP but now they are also releasing an updated version of Persona 3 for the PSP as well...
I tried to play Persona 3 and 4 on the PS2 emulator, and they 'worked' after a lot (and I mean a lot) of tweaking, but I lost all my settings and gave up trying again so for me this is great news - and for existing players I guess the additions they are making will go some way to making it an attractive purchase too;
Quote: | It's a port of Persona 3, with selectable protagonist. There will be certain things unique to the female route, and there will be some new additions to the male route as well. Otherwise it's the same game with various improvements. Apparently there'll be 5 difficulty levels, and like in P4, you can set your party members on manual control. The game is coming out on 1st Nov. |
Quote: | t also looks like they're adding new music to the game, and they're definitely rearranging social stuff for the female side, and adding new events. It also says that a downloadable version will launch at the same time as the retail version, and the voice actress for the female main character is Marina Inoue. I guess that's all of the valuable info I can glean from the scans at this point. |
Personally I can't wait, and more and more good PSP games are announced in the works that it is looking better and better. I pray they do the same remake for Persona 4 as well... because I don't want to buy another PS2 just to play one or two games (before Glottis comes in here ).

This is different than the persona remake that recently got released, right ?
Anyway, I'll post in this thread regardless, the patched Persona can be played on the 5.50 GEN-B2 but only with the sony driver or in "normal" mode with any umd in the drive. M33 driver and OE isofs driver fail (black screen after intro)

That's the original Persona, as Persona 3 isn't out yet. I think they'll be releasing Persona 2 as well if my memory isn't playing tricks on me.

Blah, haha, I really don't understand this series...
I tried to play a couple, I think I tried two of them for PS2 maybe??? I forget... They are all so strange and the battle mechanics are always something way overdone imo.
Still, everyone seems to love them so I will check this one out too.

Played it for about 20 hours.
Great game. Perfect for handheld. There is alot of leveling to be done, but combat is fun. Story is cool, its shin megami tensei ffs, what to except? Fusing personas is cool as well.
Once playing time goes quick. Only level 18, second tier in tower, but almost 20h in.

Didn't like the first psp persona as I found the gameplay a bit long and clumsy moving around from location to location bards tale style.
This game drops that mode of travel completely in favour of being able to quick jump all over the place instead. Which made this game infinitely more playable for me.
Being able to level up the characters and explore 'Tartarus' (this games randomly generated dungeon) with the minimum of effort is a nice touch too, just send the party all off to explore and they will kill the mobs, find the exits and pick up all the loots on the level for you!.
Lots of little touches in the game and plenty to do make this really playable on the psp. Pretty much what Nailbiter said above.
Think i'm near the end now?, only 1 shadow left to deal with.
Edit: finished! 209 hours in total lolz

Since I finally got to play this lemme dig this thread up.
Couple of problems I got so far (more me being stupid and gameplay related bu meh).
First how do I determine which persona fusion is worth it?
For example was up to level 14 of tartarus and Orpheus is at level 6-7. Afaik Orpheus doesn't learn anything new past level 6 so should I just keep leveling Orpheus or fuse it with something like Angel or Nekomata (or maybe even a triangle spread fusion with Angel, Orpheus and Nekomata to get Yomotsu Shikome.
So many god damn possibilities. I am a bit overwhelmed with that part :/
(btw is there decent printed strategy guide for P3 or P3 Fes? A printed one that is available online I mean )

I never figured out how to determine the fusions either, according to the creepy girl and old man it just seemed to be a crapshot, which wouldn't be bad if I could hold more than 1 of a single persona so I don't destroy my dps or something on a whim.

Well there is a list on gamefaqs that tells you which fusion gets you which persona but I have no clue if one is more worth it then another.
Basically what I asked myself is is one priestess persona better or worse than another AND
is there any use to level personas up even if they won't learn any new abilities?
I mean if I got that correct the fuisoned personas inherit some of the abilities of the two/three parent personas but do the stats of the parent personas do anything?
So if I fused a Apsaras and an Angel would the resulting Alp have higher base stats than one I found in tartarus? :/
Damn. This is way more complex than I thought.

Lol I have no clue man, as far as I noticed the abilities that get transferred over are a bit random so they said on some guide at gamefaqs to save before you did the fusion. I think there were like 4 different outcomes and they suggested just doing it over until you got the one you wanted?

Personally i rather fuse than keep on leveling. It takes too long and with social links bonuses it goes way faster to get better personas.

I went with fusion too. I started by trying to level them, but later in the game you have access to much more powerful personas and my early levelled personas became pretty much redundant by mid to end game.

And apparently fusing still doesn't work as I thought.
I thought a lvl 8 pixie and a lvl 8 Apsaras would get me a Jack Frost but nope Nekomata.
All those online fusion tables etc. are crap :/
