Sorry for being indistinct. It says that the requested download is not authorized for use with the tracker. I'm allowed to contact the tracker, but the torrent isn't allowed for some reason. I guess it's SE's fault. DHT is working fine tho, but my speeds are below 30KB/s.

Can you post your tracker address and the torrent hash? Mine is tracker01.ffxiv.com:54997 and A076DA6CC09F149E885D8F0B1F3142674FE79620.

Ah, okay. Well, yeah, you're connected to good seeds and I'm not. Well, I'll just increase the amount of allowed connections.

I'm also getting the not authorized message when using utorrent (being logged into the testers site as mentioned does not help). Sad
Downloading through the client is very slow....someone should upload the thing to RS or some other filehoster lol ...apparently it's only 2.48GB ?

I think I figured out the way to kill the music in the patcher.

1. Go to:
...\SquareEnix\FINAL FANTASY XIV Alpha Version\data\27\95\00
2. Find files:
15.DAT
16.DAT
17.DAT
They should all be between 2.5 and 2.9MB in size.
3. Rename them, or move them out of the folder. The music should now be gone and you will be able to download this thing in 50+hours without any problems.. Rolling Eyes

PS: I will not be held responsible for anything that might happen after you do this. Cool Face

or just mute the launcher if you're on Windows 7?
There's a mute button for any open application in the "Volume Mixer" - right click the speaker icon in the tray and "Open Volume Mixer"

7 hours and 30 minutes = 338MB lol (utorrent, slow, but still better than the patcher)

Well, I just finished the download with µtorrent. I just replaced the old "H2010.05.21.0000.torrent" file with a new one that I got from the FFXIV beta forums

http://www.megaupload.com/?d=O1OT8HM1

It just adds another tracker and the download speed goes up. (doesn't work for everyone)

Now we have to wait till 08.00 pm (gmt+1)...

The FINAL FANTASY XIV Alpha Version is only available in windowed mode at a fixed resolution of 1280 x 720. This cannot be adjusted.

it only looks good cuz it takes 1/3 of your screen... i thought 4 hours were too little to test this.. but ill applause anyone who can endure this abomination for more than 30 mins

It's a fucking ALPHA client. Of course it's not going to have DX12 with fully optimised rendering at every possible graphics setting. Jesus fucking Christ.. of all the things to whine about in an alpha/beta test Rolling Eyes

sabin i respect you and everything.. but in exactly how many mmorpg beta test you were?

i know i was in pretty much every major mmorpg.. and i saw so many of them fail , and so many ppl would go with "its beta/aplha whatnot "its hardly aplha.. its 10th alpha test.. there wont be open beta for ff.. nor even real closed beta.. this is second round.. and if internet rumors are correct, its the last stage..

sure they will probably fix sli support, add options.. maybe even camera a bit.. but another half is how game is designed and made.. those things dont get changed in beta..

I've been in a great number of MMORPG tests, both alpha and beta, and while some have been in magnificent condition - some have been terrible, real broken content, only to end up all the better upon later tests/retail. I'm not saying this is, or will be, perfect ... I'm just saying not to slam it for missing options and/or performance. Not yet.

i personally never saw flawed game ideals ever changed in beta, would it be aoc, war, or any other

i remember wows beta... and it was just perfect..but in ff14 i wanted to quit after first 5 mins.. and i did ..

I know, I know... it was worth a try though. Hell, I raged about issues in STO during the beta (these were ridiculous issues that should have been fixed in alpha or closed beta) - and they were sorted in the retail. Hell, I enjoyed myself so much in the beta of STO, regardless of issues, that I'm actually giving strong consideration to buying a copy of the game - and I NEVER do that. I deplore paying for a game and then having to keep paying monthly.

Beta invitation well wasted. Rolling Eyes

Just too many people go into a beta test expecting a fucking flawless game playable from start to finish like a retail product. You are beta testing ffs, they need you to report the bugs and your experience. You can't even run the game? Well, tell them! You are not supposed to be enjoying the game in full HD stunning graphics for free, sir.

The shit you posted (30 fps cap, no fullscreen etc) are most likely there for a reason, they are probably testing specific parts of the game while leaving everything else in the most basic forms, so they can isolate the bugs instead of reading thousands of reports for the same bug with thousands of different scenarios/setups.

Give your account to someone else if you can't stand this wtf-no-sli-support piece of shit alpha client so they can actually do something productive and help out in the beta. Laughing
