wow.. and here i hoped we will get normal beta test.. it begins tomorrow and we still cant login to beta testers website which opens on 9th.. as email says, and considering there are already beta tasters from earlier.. using same testers site.. which all shaping to be one huge fail..

So it's the 9th of june. Anyone managed to login to the beta site? I'm still getting the
You could not log in because the service account in question is not registered.
If you would like to log in to the service, please log in to the Square Enix Account Management System and register the service account.

Woo, me too! The installer downloaded just fine, but the updater doesn't want to start downloading.
EDIT: the first update (2010.05.12) downloaded just fine, but the second one (2010.05.21) seems to be very slow and big. 50KB/s and 15hrs remaining... I'd guess that it's distributed thru BitTorrent.

Go to your "My Documents" then "My Games" Then "FINAL FANTASY XIV Alpha Version". From there go into "downloads" "ffxiv-alpha" "b28ad053" then finally "metainfo".
So the address should look something like this:
Documents\My Games\FINAL FANTASY XIV Alpha Version\downloads\ffxiv-alpha\b28ad053\metainfo
In the metainfo folder which you should be in there's the torrent file that the FFXIV torrent thing uses. Use another torrent program like uTorrent (google is your friend) and open + download it via that.
Set the destination folder in "Documents/My Games" as the folder it downloads is "Square Enix". It will just kind of slide the new files into your existing one. Once done... Run the offical FFXIV loader.
Much, MUCH faster speeds and it occasionally hits my max speed.
If you're still getting slow speeds then you'll need to port forward that torrent program... For uTorrent you can get help with that here:
http://portforward.com/english/applications/port_forwarding/Utor/Utorindex.htm
Select your router model and follow the instructions.

and sure i know about NDA and its just beta) I played long time in FF XI and would like to know if its better (character look, if its true about better customisation etc.)
Not really hyped about the game itself either.
I found the torrent myself too, but the tracker responds with noth authorized, any ideas?
