Tried the beta and didn't like it, not sure how much it got improved since then, and now the free to play option is pretty temping... might give it a go again.
Have the free to play option started or do I have to wait for it?

The beta for the F2P is coming up. I read on another forum that the F2P will be rolled out in autumn.

from time to time, to jump in without paying anything and at the end having fun

Just read in the FAQ that if you bought the game, you are a premium player by default. Hope this applies to the eurogamer giveaway as well.
Also, it seems we'll get store-points for in-game activities, so with hard work, hopefully we'll be able to play without any major hiderance.

downloading 10gb from fileplanet.. oh dude.. it reminds me of one internet provider we have here.. been on top 5 years ago, now.. total garbage.. while everyone else offers 100mb, it offers 4mb for same prices.. same with fileplanet.. same speeds we had in 2005.. and even then it was slow ;(

why does a f2p version of an already established game need a beta? just open access to anyone with a free registration, and youre away laughing, no?

Ehhh... I dunno... Guild Wars was F2P and you bought the Disc..I consider F2P like Diablo / Guild Wars/NWNx.
I wish I could get back into lotro as I have alot of good friends there, but i've done everything and unless I start a new character and try to lose myself in the lore, it's just like trying to play WoWo again.. Burnt out.

well if you play f2p games, you get the f2p experience, with crap drop rates, and rubbish items compared to the store stuff.... thats fair enough for a game you download for free (like those gala-net ones), but to actually PAY for the game, and get that same experience?
i was looking forward to giving this a spin when it went f2p - havent played an mmo since rappelz (i know, i know, shut up), but if i have to pay for the actual game just to get that traditional low level f2p experience, then ill just pass on it

You don't have to buy the game. You earn Turbine points from deeds(Only thing I know so far that gives points since I'm only level 7).
I'm guessing they're trying out the shop etc. so it's not complete crap for free users or something.

since im in Lotro F2P beta for a couple days i feel ive seen enough to say that nothing gonna change theres barely any "free" content in this pesudo free to play model and its no more no less but a trial only without 10 day restiriction and since the shop is a lot more greedy than the one from DDO i predict huge disapointment in september or early october when this thing go live.

was looking to this beta and hoping i would get to play my older char but nah.. i kinda cba lvling again, lotro have one of worst early zones, and ill go mad if i have to experience that burning village for 10th time..
and then just to have it gone after beta ends , and ye there are no f2p lotro for eu..
