Controls make me sick -literally. Shadowgrounds felt so much better in terms of cameras and gameplay, without a fixed isometric view this games fails. Gonna play a few for minutes to see if I get use to the camera.

Edit: lol, the demo lasts less than a few minutes.

Hehe, wow, I really have to be careful in here when criticising alien games?!
Seriously, my comment was just a casual remark as to how incredibly boring this alien-theme is becoming.
I don't really care whether this is a remake. Though you could argue that makes it even more boring...

How is using aliens in a remake even more boring? They are doing a remake of an alien game and they should put something different in? Maybe they should call it something different too while their at it? I'm sorry bonaldo2000 but your comments made very little sense. Maybe do some research before posting comments like this.

Arrrrgh. What's the matter with you guys?

I only made a CASUAL comment regarding the fact that the number of alien-related games is completely absurd.
Can NO ONE in here agree with that?!

And, yeah, it's even more boring because it's an alien game...and ON TOP of that it's a game that has actually been made before.

It's out on steam now.

Feels kinda clunky and heavy after playing shadowgrounds, greed and alien shooter. But still more of the same and it's fun in small doses. Smile

Actually this was a lil bit obvious when they released the game as steam only - i.e. A bit of homework woulda stopped your disappointment. If you were wanting MP you shoulda bought at 10% off pre-order else pay full price now.

Personally I don't see this being a big deal MP cos only one of my Steam friends tried the demo - or I woulda bought it. I hate buying MP games that I only end up playing SP unless they are really cheap.

not worth it anyway...

For those who want to play this Game in Multiplayer Coop i can say it isnt worth it, only 3 Maps which are played through in 2-3 hours. Rest is Singleplayer.

"Two-player co-operative play mode - Work together to defeat the alien horde across three specifically customised maps."

i wonder why devs even bother... i just wanna play the campaign with my buddy, not some half assed coop maps.

Just as Skidrow's few latest cracks, it get detected by many antivirus as a generic threat. Plus, I guess we'll see a crackfix coming out, again. After the first level it say it have trouble uploading score to Steam, do you want to retry? I choose no and then I see my score, and then the game freeze. Just like PB winterbottom's first crack. Don't skidrow at least try one level of the game before releasing it?

As for the game itself, I like it really much up to now. Hope for enemy diversity.

Yea, crack is fucked. Gives an error at the end of the first level about not being able to upload to STEAM, and there's no way to progress to level 2 after that.

Doesn't do that for me. I click NO on the "do you want to retry" screen and then it freezes. I push ESC and it tells me that all progress will be lost, I click YES, then it's an infinite load screen. No way for me to get to level 2.

Ick, that was close! I was *just* about to buy this, when I realised I already have it.... on the 360... Grrr. I'm still waiting for Episode 2 to come out on XBLA.

=Edit=

Hmmm. I just did some checking up and it seems "Impact!" is a radically updated version of "Evolution" (the XBLA title) I may just get it anyway then. Does anyone know the length of the game in relation to the XBLA one? Evolution is episodic and I've got Episode 1, with Episode 2 due out soon...

=Edit 2=

http://ve3d.ign.com/articles/news/55031/Improved-Alien-Breed-Evolution-Coming-Soon-To-Steam

Quote:

The difficult decision was taken to delay the release of Episode 2 in order to make some crucial improvements in accordance with the mixed feedback and, in addition to this, the team decided to relaunch Episode 1 with similar changes made.

Now called Alien Breed Impact, the game is set to be re-released on Steam and PlayStation Network complete with a couple of changes specifically addressing the criticisms of the specialist press.

Oh fuck you Team 17!! So AB-Impact is the "updated" version of Evolution, made after player feedback on the 360 version. So where is the "updated" version for the 360 then, huh? Do I get a refund for being a fucking PAYING beta tester for a product you're going to revamp and sell again? Grrrrrrrrr. See, this is why people pirate.

Same thing happened to mass effect 1 , but no one complained then. I think all games that sign some sort of exclusivity contract for a specific number of months should do this. It's better than getting some game for one console 6 months earlier , with a couple of annoying bugs for example , and then when it finally gets ported it inherits the same problems as the first version.

What is Sabin raging so much anyway? Laughing

You have bought the 360 version, now play it for free. Why would you buy it for PC anyway, if you have the 360 version? Smile

Because the 360 version is half the game the PC/PSN ones are, that's why. It's like "Thank you for beta testing our game, we listened to feedback and have now made the game even better! ....oh, but not on your platform, sorry"

Seems there's some editor or other redist packed with this, unpacked Skidrows setup (Normal Inno setup archive.) and checked the installscript.vdf file which referenced a UE3Redist.exe, googling that showed it was a map editor or something like that and it's also included under Binaries/Windows
(Along with a DirectX update, UE3Redist also packages .Net 3.0 and PhysX v.8 something.)

No, that redist just installs, as you said, what is necessary for the engine. No editor can be used. Sad

Ah so that's what it does, doesn't seem to be needed though but I already use .net (4.0 now) and PhysX (9.x.222 redist via Metro 2033.)

Also the game doesn't need to be tweaked that much but via INI editing enabling trilinear texture filtering can be done and the game has a GlobalShaderCache-PC-D3D-SM4.bin file so setting AllowD3D10=False to true might actually work. Smile
(Hardware PhysX is also set to true by default though this value is redundant and usually refers to AGEIA hardware since that's what was available via the UT3 PhysX update initially and it's not needed for GPU accelerated support.)

Damn i read the posts after i downloaded the Skidrow version, oh well.

Not all is lost as there is a Theta version out there which is much smaller than the Skidrow one. Don't know if it works properly though as i have only just grabbed it and can't install it to later but Theta stuff is usually pretty good.
